OCTOBER MISSION

Use the mission’s resources to complete the tasks and answer the questions for a chance to win!

Answer each question correctly during the week and you'll be entered for a chance to win the weekly prize.

Answer all 20 questions correctly over the course of the month and you'll be entered for a chance to win the grand prize.

150 points are being awarded for each correctly answered question. There are 20 questions, which means you can earn a maximum of 3,000 points for this mission.

MISSION SHORTCUT

Complete the steps below between Monday, October 7, 2024, and Sunday, November 3, 2024, to be entered to win a Courant CATCH: 2!

Shortcut steps:

1. Go to the SolarWinds Observability Self-Hosted Interactive Demo page and start an Advanced Demo
2. Click on the Cloud Summary Dashboard under ‘MY DASHBOARDS’ and ‘CLOUD’
3. Click on a SharePoint Server in the Cloud Applications widget
4. Take a screenshot
5. Go to the SolarWinds Observability SaaS Interactive Demo
6. Click on the Network Tab on the Left
7. Click on Router below the Overall Health widget
8. Take a screenshot that shows the number of Cisco Routers
9. Submit screenshots for both Steps 4 and 8

I got the JBL headphones recently for something like 35k-40k and now they're 75k!

I asked about this a month ago and here is what they told me.

We’ve reviewed our inventory list and the points required for purchase and determined that some items' values were not aligned with the points required for purchase. The headphones in particular are the highest value item in the store and retail for $160.

We did this after reviewing our active members (have a log in date between the past few years and now) and their point values. We found there was a great amount of users with over 100,000 points in their account.

We feel such a high value item should reflect the maximum engagement within the community. If the purchase of this product stalls, we will revisit the amount of points required for purchase.

Today's Oct 8 question seems flawed. Perhaps the answered were meant to be check boxes instead of radio buttons?

No idea where they've pulled that value from, but a quick Google shows they are retailing for approx £50 and the way the US <> UK currency converts for tech you can say $50 - and that price is direct from the manufacturer.

A slightly longer look shows me Amazon are selling for £42 and some person on eBay is wanting £210 because they are 2nd hand and from Japan!!!!!

I had been saving up my points, reached the target and went to get them and they had doubled, assumed they will forever be out of reach haha

Those CD's were everywhere... like you said magazines and on the counter in stores in stacks. If you hung them in a tree by a string they even kept pigeons of your stuff!

Is it a trick question? Seems like there should be "xpa" inserted into the first word of option C on Day 9.

Expanded would make more sense, but that is not what it says.

So DON'T assume it is a typo then... I always see they have mistakes in the questions so I guessed that this was unintentional. I was teetering between guessing it really meant expanded or it was thrown in there to trick you. I was looking for someone who commented about it, but didn't find anything. I took a chance and checked the box.

Ended and Expanded are very similar and could easily be a typo, but Ended support doesn't fit the context of the question. I see the purpose of these missions it to see if you can guess whether or not the creator made a mistake or were intentionally trying to throw you off track. Really has nothing to do with whether or not you know what the answer is.

Oh well, I guess I will never complete one of these missions without a red X.

I have a question about the mission shortcut, I have been doing them every month, but then I thought about what a shortcut is and was concerned that I was taking myself out of the drawings for the regular mission. Anyone know anything about the mission shortcut?

Hey @LoganJaxx ! Happy to clear this up for you. The mission shortcut is designed for users who may not have the time to participate in each daily question from our missions. We understand that some months can be busier, so the shortcut offers another way to be in the running to win a prize by completing it. The mission and mission shortcut each have their own separate drawings, so entering the shortcut doesn’t affect your chances in the regular mission draw. Hope this helps!
