Hi everyone, We have a few very quick questions about date/time ranges in charts. Take our 5 minute survey to help us understand useful date/time options here (note: please don't take this one on a phone, you'll need a tablet or larger screen!) http://thwack.4a89b027243c.sgizmo.com/s3/
WOOT WOOT!!!
Chart Time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Awesome, Keep it coming meech. i love points. and providing useful feedback of course.
meech While it does not specifically pertain to the date/time options of charts and graphs, please know that I will happily donate all of my Thwack points, and 3 people from my office, for the following things to happen...
I think c.gura's layout should be, without a doubt, native to the Orion platform. We need a way to efficiently view a bunch of data, seeing only what we need. He uses very simple thumbnails, which easily tell the "overview" story of the moment, taking only seconds to see something out of place.
Re: What's your ideal dashboard layout?
zackm also shows an outstanding, and much needed, native chart/graph option, using spark/sparkline charts. (Or, at the very least, take the APM multicharts, and make them work globally, across all modules.) This option, again, makes an extremely efficient use of space, allowing all of the necessary data be seen in a single glimpse.
Re: What resource do you wish you had in Orion that you don't currently?
Who wants to spend their days manually adding individual graphs to pages/views? I'm not sure who wants to do that, but I know I have better things to do. (Or, perhaps, using the APM multichart route, require the chart to have a filter, adding a new row to the chart for each item that is configured with a value that qualifies on the filter...)

Thank you,

Will, First off, Which three people would you donate? Just curious! And--please keep the feedback coming, keep screenshots coming. We don't always get to things right away, but we do watch what is important to you on thwack. And also, can you give me your specific use case for the thumbnail view? As in, who would it be for and what would they be doing/wanting to understand with the thumbnails?
The best use case I have is for our NOC and Engineering teams. We have several views that are extremely graph intensive, basically having 50-100 graphs per page, so we can get a very specific, and broad, overview of various device traffic patterns. Before SolarWinds, we used MRTG to view the graphs, allowing us to basically display a page full of graphs, laid out in a 10 column, 5 row format. I suppose it really just comes down to being able to view more information in less space.
Thanks for asking meech.
When you are looking at charts things like 'this week' are a bit arbitrary. When did this week start, Sat, Sun, Mon.
Perhaps 'Last week' could be 'last 7 days' or do you mean last Sun-Sun or last Mon-Mon etc.
