Upload Entire Config.. Is this working properly

I expected the Upload Entire Config option in NCM to take my modified configuration of a node and make it the running configuration.  Is that not how it works???

 

I want to make several changes to Cisco access point's configuration so I used NCM to download the current configuration.  Then I edited the downloaded configuration, adding, deleting and modifying the necessary portions of the configuration.  I saved the changes and then went to Actions/Upload Entire Config. I expected the modified configuration I saved to be uploaded.  After I uploaded the configuration, I downloaded the configuration again and found that everything that I removed from the modified configuration is still in the running configuration.  

 

Am I doing something wrong?

Your implementation sounds basically correct.  A few questions that might put you in the green:

*  Double-check that you didn't accidentally upload the original, or a previous verion, of the config.  I agree, that's probably not what happened.

*  When you uploaded the modified config to the Cisco device, did you upload it to the startup-config or the running-config?

*  When you downloaded the config the second time, did you download the startup-config or running-config?

You can see where I'm going here--if you inadvertently uploaded it to the running-config and didn't copy run start, a reboot of the device would replace your new config with the old one in the startup-config.

Similarly, if you uploaded the new config to the startup-config and did not reboot the device before doing the new download, you might possibly have downloaded the old running-config. 

I bet you didn't miss these, but it's an idea to check.  Someone's interested in helping, at least.
