Force log out users

Many times I've wondered this, why can't we force a user that is currently logged in to the site to log out? If I've got a user with their home view open and that home view has a resource I've got to get off of there because it's causing locks in the DB. I've now got to call over to that remote site, send out emails, and in general hunt down this user and ask them to log off. If I had the ability to log them off of Orion, maybe even with a message to be a nice guy, that'd be fantastic.

Find out what user is using that particular view, use auditing if required, then disable the account in Manage Accounts. You could also define a session timeout to achieve the same goal.

Is the user account option for timing out after inactivity not working? Just curious.

The user was just stepping away from their console but they had a report open that was causing severe blocking in the DB. We wanted to kick him out of his session so that we could kill the SPID and not have it respawn the query. Being able to force a user session to close would have been great. I'll definitely keep this trick handy for the future.

Just edit the view and remove the resource momentarily until the issue is fixed. The page refreshes, they may not notice..especially if they stepped away.

But hey, I am all for more control and the ability to play Basterd Operator From He11 (BOFH, if it edit's that)
