We are currently rolling out SW NPM, NCM, NTA, VNQM ---we are at the beginning and while looking at the graphs, management noticed that when you scale the graphs to time frames above 4 hours, the data point value in the graph gets averaged over that time frame.
For instance when looking at something like interface discards, at a single point in time, within 4 hours, this value may be 379,000...however when you change the scale on the chart to above 4 hours, it changes the value to 126,000...from what I can tell it is a multiple of 3. we understand that...but what management is saying is that the chart looks wrong. They feel that the chart should always display the actual value and not be an average over time.
Having the option to not have it average would be what I would request...so maybe some kind of check-box or global/local setting we can choose if we want the average over a time or the actual data points during that time on the adjustable charts.
I know there are charts that can give you this real value over time, but they are not adjustable over the range of time, but a fixed time. Such as the Average of Average CPU, this give you the option to display the 1 minute value collected, and actually display it on the chart over a period more that 4 hours...so the ability exists to display the data.
I was asked to post this to the community for input as this would be a feature request.
Please provide thoughts and input so this can possibly get on to the development cycle within SolarWinds
Thanks
