I'd like to be able to monitor the health of my FC switches in our environment.
e.g.
fan, power-supply and board sensors, if they have status of not = "ok" then i'd like STM to have a threshold setting for this for me to alert my team.
Hi palinxy,
Would it be possible for you to do this with Network Performance Monitor's Hardware Health feature? It is unlikely that Storage Manager would ever support a Hardware Health feature for FC switches.
Hi Balki,
Unfortunately NPM does not provide hardware health monitoring for my Brocade FC switches like it does for Cisco devices. Currently I use a SAM application template to monitor the senors by SNMP. I have noticed in another feature request for NPM, someone is asking for hardware health monitoring for FC switches, http://thwack.solarwinds.com/ideas/2098, if this is implemented then all is good, but I still think it belongs with STM.
Because STM offers monitoring of port status using a threshold and it does pickup if the health is OK or not for the sensors (as shown below) it would just be a simple matter of having another threshold to pickup anomalies with the sensors. After all STM is geared towards looking after ones Storage, NPM on the other hand is more Networking infrastructure.

Paul
