Hardware health for Brocade devices

We would like to have hardware health for Brocade switches same as cisco.

We are useing chassis devieces: FastIron SX 1600-PREM, NetIron 8-slot (MLX) ,NetIron 16,FCX-24GS POE ,FCX-2XGC,FCX-48GS .

Meanwhile we are useing withDevice Poller  the Universal in order  to get it in web display, for some OID for example:

1.3.6.1.4.1.1991.1.1.2.6.3.1.4

1.3.6.1.4.1.1991.1.1.1.3.1.1.3

1.3.6.1.4.1.1991.1.1.1.2.1.1.3

1.3.6.1.4.1.1991.1.1.1.2.1.1.2

but there is no option to change the  color of the network object to be in a different color when we got power or fan failed.

we would like to change the color of the object in the dashboard same as Cisco when we have hardware problem (Power supply or fan).

Thanks in advance

  Ronen.

  • Solarwinds, please please please add native hardware health for Brocade devices.  This really shouldn't be so hard.  Thanks

  • Lack of Brocade support from where? To Solarwinds themselves? I could somewhat see that being true because they have their own NMS product, but so does Cisco. We run an all Brocade network here and the obvious lack of product integration (or favor to Cisco) is pretty irritating. Having to use universal device pollers for everything is extremely bothersome especially when all the information is there and easily attainable through SNMP. If it knows that it is a Brocade/Foundry device then it should just automatically change the inventory/device polling template to the correct model. The same could easily be done with any vendor's hardware. It's just OID mapping.

  • This is still a very real request since support for HP was added but I have not seen any other vendors included. Talking with several of my peers the lack of brocade support keeps them away from the product.

  • Hi Ronen,

We use Storage Manager and I have requested a feature request to add this here.  The software already picks up the status of the sensors, all is needed is for STM to fire off a trap which you can then use Oron to capture and alert on it.

To pickup the status of our FC switches in NPM we also use SAM and have an application template and use an SNMP monitor to check the status of the sensors.

Here is a picture of one of my Brocade FC switches from STM, shown here are all the sensor values!
