That would be nice in a future product version as PostreSQL is increasingly popular and useful, including feature and performance-wise.
Title should be Add vs Ad.
There were some comments for PostgreSQL on the MySQL site.
Thanks for pointing that out. We'll dig them out when we're tallying votes. :-)
Just noticed that there are two of these feature requests.
For our environment, this would be a great feature!
We currently use DPA extensively in our Oracle environment and are considering adding Postgres to our portfolio. This would be a natural fit as developers are already familiar with the DPA paradigm.
That's exactly what we are transitioning too also!
Yeah we have more PostgreSQL coming into fold especially flavors like GreenPlum. Our development teams like what they get in DPA and would like to see more additions.
Any thoughts as to whether this is under consideration?
PostgreSQL has become one of the standard DB service we propose for all new projects here. It is to become the DB workhorse, pushing Oracle out (or cornering Oracle in some niche it's hard to dislodge it from e.g. out Exadata clusters).
We don't need/want to implement S.A.M. just to monitor PG servers.
Our technical staffs, our IT project managers & Application Managers are used to DPA and it has now become the 'Rosette stone' enabling those 3 populations to discuss issues on a common ground.
I see the lack of PG support in DPA as a hindrance.
Solarwinds, It's time to move in and fill the gap. If Oracle keeps losing fights to PG and other DB, you have to persuade your customers to keep using DPA rather than some other emerging tools.
Well said. I can't claim that Postgres has become the DB workhorse here; however, it has become a standard DB service now and our ability to see DPA as a strategic part of our toolset will be partially determined by its breadth of platform coverage. Besides, there isn't a tool on the market today that can do the job as well as DPA could so let's see it, guys!
i have a dream : DPA is a Performance Monitoring, Analysis Tuning an advice solution to help databases administrators to manage PostgreSQL
that would be great !
Our company is moving more and more databases from oracle and db2 to postgres. We rely heavily on DPA for performance troubleshooting, so it would be fantastic if we could continue to use DPA and not have to train our staff in use of new tools.
We use DPA at our company which is a SQL Server shop. However, we are expanding our database infrastructure into Postgres (RDS and Aurora) and have a need for DPA support.
DPA for postgres will greatly help troubleshooting performance issues in our environment
I miss DPA for PostgreSQL too.
Our company has used DPA for SAP ASE for more than two years and we are very satisfied with the system. However we were a bit suprised to find that there is no support for PostgreSQL. As most new services we develop rely on PostgreSQL we would love to use the same tool for this database.
I just got asked if we can monitor PostgreeSQL with DPA... for one of most important systems.
SolarWinds Lab
4 years since this request was opened and no news on DPA support for postgres. We really need PostgreSQL support in DPA soon as we are moving more DB workloads into postgres and would really love to have the power of DPA work for our postgres database monitoring.
Considering Aurora MySQL is already supported in DPA, when is Aurora Postgres support coming and can we get some timelines on this please.
Another vote for Aurora PostgreSQL supportability. We are seeing more of these instances in our organisation and unfortunately DPA is not an option here forcing us to look elsewhere for alternatives
Time to call in the #bumpsquad
One more vote for PostgreSQL support.
Even if you could add only RDS Aurora PostGres Flavor to your existing Aurora offering, that would at least allow for a migration path from traditional PG. In our future, we are wagering big on PG, so we need DPA, and we already love SW DPA.
Lets keep this love affair going!
If we had to pick between cloud platforms I would prefer to see GCP Cloud
SQL Postgres.
We are monitoring a wide range of databases currently. Our list includes Oracle, MySQL, and Sql Server. We also have PostgreSQL and AWS RedShift database. If we cannot use DPA by mid year, we may need to look at a different solution.
Postgres is definitely something on our radar, however, Redshift is not something we hear a lot of demand for. Are you migrating to Postgres quickly, i.e. is that the reason why you cannot use DPA? What's the mix of database platforms you have in your environment?
Any news on DPA support on PostgreSQL Database monitoring in year 2019? I will vote for this as it is easier to have different types of database monitoring in one single monitoring platform.
Another vote for PostgreSQL support. We are growing in the cloud environment and would like to have one tool we can use to monitor all prod environments. Do you have a timeline for Aurora Postgresql?
This would be great, will not require 2 separate tools or move away from DPA to having provider that does SQL Server and PostgreSQL
Any update on this? We have 40+ postgres instances we will need to cover and DPA would be our first choice if support is around the corner.

Hi Zachary, not sure if you saw but cpriddy updated this to reflect it as what's being worked on What We Are Working On for DPA (Updated November, 2019)
Zachary -
There is an early DPA PostgreSQL Beta (really an Alpha) going on currently. We are in need of people to capture information about their environment and their queries for us to help us validate assumptions and also test out our SQL parsing/normalization to unique hash ids.
The DPA PostgreSQL Beta includes 3 opportunities to provide feedback:
Just go to the Thwack page for DPA and click on the BETA tab.
Note: The registration for PostgreSQLinstances isn't available in the UI yet, so you will need to use the mass registration interface. Make sure to review the two pdf attachments on the Beta page on PostgreSQL setup of a monitoring user and the registration instructions.

Clive are you aware there's a beta for DPA available now that showcases an early preview of this functionality?

That's great to hear, and there's a beta that can be installed if you're interested!
Hi skamen No specific timeline for Aurora PostgreSQL. Definitely in the backlog to provide, but it may not make it into the first release.
Database Performance Analyzer release 2020.2 now officially supports PostgreSQL including the following:
