URL Flapping Check
- Website “flapping” is a condition whereby a site repeatedly goes into an alarm state (“down” status) yet doesn’t stay down long enough to trip an alert
- This condition adversely affects site availability and can deter site visitors
- A check that will alert based on number of "down" alarms (flaps) over a given period of time would be very useful. The number of alarms and time duration should be customizable by the Pingdom admin. For example: Alert when five alarms over a sixty minute duration is detected. To prevent excessive alerts, the check's alarm count should exclude conditions in which the "when down, alert after" criteria is breached. In those cases, only the "down" check should alert
