pretty please?
Anyone can feel free to repeatedly comment on, or "bump", an idea to keep it in the front of folks' attention. But giving someone more than one vote eliminates the benefit of SW being able to actually see how many people want/dont-want a feature/product.
I respect your idea and your enthusiasm to get something going, but: One Person = One Vote. That's only fair.
Remember, if folks had more than one vote, folks would get into a voting competition--people would down-vote something they don't like, as often as they could. That wouldn't be nice or fun for anyone.
We shouldn't vote idea's down, we should only vote up. If you don't like the idea pass it over.
Votes only count once.
I know what you're feeling, Jeremy. I think SW provided the "down vote" option to give them a better sense of how everyone feels about a topic. As you recommended, if I don't care about a topic I ignore it, don't vote. But if I think a suggestion has really has serious problems (and there are only two suggestions in all of Thwack that match this criteria), I'm glad to have the option to cast a "nay" vote. Many governments have the "yea-or-nay" option. I sympathize with folks whose idea generates those "nays", but the votes are not a judgment of the person--only a reflection that the idea offered generates a strong negative reaction.
I think having both sides of the coin shown does a better job of polling the thought of the Community, as opposed to showing a small percentage who vote up, and ignoring the rest of the Community who are unaware of the poll, or don't care if the idea catches on.
Yup, i actually agree 100% with you rschroeder. This FR stemmed as an internal discussion with my team about product feature requests.
