I thought I had posted this request idea some time ago, but am unable to find the post.
I have configured IP SLA Alerting and am sending alerts to the Voice team with the following info:
Subject:
IPSLA ${OperationStatusName} Alert for ${OperationTypeName} on ${NodeName}
${OperStatus}IP SLA Operation ${OperationName} on Node ${SourceNodeCaption} is ${OperationStatusName} at ${DateTime} PT.
Current statistics for ${SourceNodeCaption} are:
Latency = ${Latency} ms
Packet Loss = ${PacketLoss} %
Jitter = ${Jitter} ms
MOS = ${MOS}
Orion Quick-link: ${IPSLAQoSDetailsURL}
Example:
IP SLA Operation Vancouver to Toronto - EF on Node IPSLA-test1 is Critical at Thursday, September 06, 2012 7:50 AM PT.
Current statistics for IPSLA-test1 are:
Latency = 58.0505065917969 ms
Packet Loss = 1 %
Jitter = 1.17948722839355 ms
MOS = 4.21000003814697

The problem is, the users receiving this alert have no idea what the thresholds are for each parameter.
Unless I give them admin rights in Orion to edit the operation, they have no way of knowing which parameter exceeded the threshold.
I tried adding a custom macro to display the threshold settings in the alert message, but that did not work.
Thresholds are:
Warning: ${VoIPOperationThresholds.warninglevel}
Critical: ${VoIPOperationThresholds.errorlevel}
Yes, Orion VoIP Monitor can alert you when IP SLA tests exceed pre-determined thresholds, but it can't tell you what those thresholds are.
Can we get this feature added?
BTW, it would be nice to reduce the level of reporting to 3 significant figures.
14 decimal places is a little excessive.
A secondary feature request would be to be able to include the test parameters in the alert as well, although this can be viewed from the web page:
Frequency: 30 s
Parameters:
Advantage Factor: 0
Codec Type: GSM 711 ULAW
Source Address: 12.74.1.27
Target Address: 10.38.106.254
Target Port: 16668
Type Of Service: 184
