I'd like to see this accomplished if this can be done. I was expecting this to be a part of implementing meraki monitoring in solarwinds. I'd like to see ways to handle meraki netflow data within the NPM platform.
While this would indeed be nice, I doubt that it's possible.
Meraki don't expose the information for a third party to scan, so there isn't much that Solarwinds can do about it
Meraki has some easy web links to access that give access to an hour-long info-share. Once complete, you can sign up to get a free Meraki device--Z3, MX, etc.
mcam they do provide flow data, just not a source. That's literally the only issue. It's the same problem as with a 7k and with 3650/3850. They include almost everything needed, it's just how NTA processes the flow that's at issue.
If SW went through the demo program, Meraki would give them a free MX65 or Z3, according to my understand of the program. Three of my guys have done that and gotten free Meraki gear for home.
Of course, you need the cloud service to use it, and that might not be free . . .
As designerfx pointed out, the issue is with the Cisco Netflow implementation. Cisco/Meraki is pointing all flow data to a "virtual" interface, and NTA needs the monitor the physical interface to associate/correlate data.
And I have an MX64 (Security device), MR33 (AP), and MS220-8 (switch)...fully licensed for 3-yrs just for participating in 3 1 hour webinars.

ding serena If one or more of your staff had the items referenced in the preceding note from deverts, I'm hoping you'd be able to use it to better support our Meraki deployments.
bump/reminder jreves, this one is going to become more relevant going forward
It appears that SolarWinds competitor LiveAction is able to obtain data directly from the Meraki endpoints, not just from the cloud. This is exactly what we, and other Meraki users, want. I believe this will be essential if Meraki MX devices take more marketshare, which seems likely. My clients are deploying hundreds of Meraki MX64 and larger devices and really need this level of insight. They are major SolarWinds customers who aren't looking to move to a new NPMD tool like LiveNX.See https://www.liveaction.com/resources/training-videos/cisco-sd-wan-integration/ for a demo from last year.
There was a Packet Pushers podcast with LiveAction last week which referenced this, if the SolarWinds staff are looking for more details.
2019; this would help to promote NPM/NTA strengths with what Meraki has been doing. Hope it's being explored.
What we're working on for NTA post 4.5 (February 25th, 2019)
We're working on it, Rick!
Meraki continues to make significant inroads within my organization. It solves so many complex issues that we not only provide their hardware solutions for remote / home users, but we're also seeing use cases that justify installing it INSIDE our organization.
It's conveniences so far have outweighed its limitations, which include:
If/when you need testing for new Meraki monitoring capability by Solarwinds products, I'm happy to volunteer.
Absolutely, Rick!
It's probably worth a chat with cobrien to make sure we understand the full scope of what's needed, as well.
jreves
We are in conversation with Cisco now at renewal time for Meraki - lack of monitoring support is close to making us push them out for alternative solutions.
It will be interesting to see how that pans out
Yeah, the Meraki gear really is amazing. Meraki delivered hugely simplified reliable network connectivity for companies ages ago, but only for certain use cases. Over the last decade they've increased the number of use cases they support dramatically. They're slowly making the number of cases where you need incredibly expensive and complex network gear more and more rare. The average IT shop is under huge pressure to get more done with less. Reducing administrative burden for part of the network by migrating to Meraki is a big deal.
Can you elaborate on what you'd like to monitor in Meraki through SolarWinds? Have you spoken to your Meraki rep about this? Our relationship with Meraki has been increasing in size, scope, and results over the past couple years. The main driver for that is customers like you telling Meraki and SolarWinds that you have a burning need for us to solve.
July bump. Don't forget to let Meraki know you want this too!
Keep your eyes open for a Beta announcement for the next version of NTA!
What models are your guys running?
Are you ready to test? Do you have some non-production boxes, or have you already set up to divert some of your production flow traffic to an eval instance?
Get ready!
rschroeder, wake up! It's NTA Beta Time!
NTA Beta1 Release Available!
c'mon over and check it out!
Interesting. Will the beta fully address the need for more Meraki compatibility?
Let's do an Aug 2019 bump on this. We have NPM and Meraki MX. The lack of visibility into Meraki is making support very difficult. Netflow data, does not have interface still, and this is annoying.
Zahid, If you're a current NTA customer you can evaluate our beta release now!
Visit this posting NTA Beta1 Release Available! - and follow the link to sign up for the beta. Post in the beta forum with your experiences, and let us know what you think about this feature!
Bump.
Rick, are you not yet signed up for the NTA beta that's active right now? Check it out!
BUMP!!!!
Meraki use is expanding especially in the SDWAN side
We have over 60 sites on SDWAN with another 60 planned this year, all using MX's. Please integrate with their API more
This is in active development now. Would love to hop on with some of you to show and get feedback, but also if possible to get API and SNMPWalks for additional setups to test against internally and also learn more about how things are configured, how many orgs and controllers, etc.
