For me it seems a bit strange that there is a possiblity to create groups to logically (both static and dynamic) order/handle nodes within Solarwinds but it isn't possible to use the groups in Node management - Manage nodes (and it would be nice in other application in SW as well).
I created a case to SW ->01930723 Group by Group in Node management - Manage nodes and got the answer that it's not supported yet:
Currently this feature group option in Node management - Manage nodes is not yet supported in Solarwinds
Hereby I add this as a feature request.
