Basic Trap-related reports

In Orion Report Writer, there are basic reports for Syslog, events, audit, and alerts, and a possibility to create a new report from scratch for those type of alers, but nothing related to traps.

Everything has to be done through SQL.

Can you please have that feature implemented?

Hello ,

In Orion Report Writer, it is possible to build reports based on syslog messages (Date/time, source IP, hostname, message, tag, facility, severity etc...) This could have helped us to built reports on received information that was sent by devices if we were using syslog.

There are no way (Read:I have not found a way) to manipulate the same type of data that has arrived by SNMP traps. I would like to be able to get easy reports without doing any heavy SQL lifting... I want, by example, to be able to generate a report that has top senders per group or manufacturer or device type, I would also be able to flag some messages as critical and have them appear on a daily watch list.

To put you in context, we have a multi-site network monitored by SNMP polls & (but mostly) SNMP trap alerting, and we forward many traps to another monitoring system in a NOC. We want to flag some stuff to do proactive management of the network.

SNMP Traps is pretty much the same concept than syslog, in a different presentation. To me it should be approached & treated the same way in NPM.

Would also be great to build a report of trap type per device. We have a device sending over 1000 traps per day. I would help to be able to do a report that state how many traps of each type were sent.
