Increased statistics polling using WMI

As a DoD NPM user we are now prohibited from using SNMPv1 and SNMPv2 for polling servers. We have switched to using WMI polling for most of our servers. The main issue is that we get no interface statistics when polling servers using WMI. I would request that additional statistics be collected when using WMI to make it equivalent to using SNMP polling.

what exactly you would like to see? WMI is typically used for server and application monitoring.

Since we can no longer use SNMP we get no interface statistics when polling servers using WMI. That is the first most obvious stat missing. I do like the increased volume utilization and queuing stats provided by WMI.

My company needs this too! As compliance regulations become more strict and older technology (ie SNMP v1 and v2) cause some great security risks in our environment. Server 2008 does not allow for snmp v3 and third party tools do not always work. Since WMI is a secured from of polling the servers it should gather the interfaces as well.

After talking with a support rep. this is enabled on the Server and Application Monitor. But since we are asking for the network interfaces to be viewable it should be enabled on the Network Performance Monitor product line.
