After creating a map in Atlas, there is a capability to save as the map as a pdf. The new map function does not provide this same functionality. I use the maps I create in SolarWinds as a part of my accreditation package since this represent real-time connections. My checklist for the diagram is based upon the Connection Guide and those topology requirements are as follows:
• Be dated
• Clearly delineate authorization boundaries
• Identify all connections
• Identify equipment inventory (equipment make, model, most recent configuration
including any enclave boundary firewalls, Intrusion Detection System (IDS)/Intrusion
Protection System (IPS), premise router, routers, switches, backside connections, IP
addresses, encryption devices, CDS, software versions, and IP address ranges of the devices on the diagram;
(National Information Assurance Partner (NIAP) Evaluated Products)
• Show other access points; the flow of information to, from, and through all connections, host IP addresses,
• Identify all cybersecurity or cybersecurity-enabled products deployed in the enclave
• Identify any connections to other systems/networks/enclaves to include:
− The name of the organization that owns the other enclave
− The connection type (e.g., wireless, dedicated point-to-point connection, etc.)
− IP addresses for all devices within the other enclave
− The organization type
• Identify the Internetworking Operating System (OS) version
• Show actual and planned interfaces to internal and external Local Area Networks (LANs)
or Wide Area Networks (including backside connections)
• Note on the topology if the enclave is protected by a gateway
• Appropriately classify the topology diagram per the Classification Guide
The ability to save maps as an image or pdf with considerations with integrating some of the above-mentioned topology requirements would be useful to many DoD organizations that currently use your product.
