Right now, we can only base approvers upon Request Types. This works in cases where specific people or departments own a process and only they can approve an action.
But in cases of some hardware or software requests, a person's manager can approve the request. IN order to use the current approval processes, we would have to create request types for every department for every scenario.
Why not make it possible to set a persons department manager as the approver for certain request types?
Or even allow the creation of a custom field that would populate with a client's departments manager and tie it to an approval process.
All I am saying is that we have some processes that require approval that are tied to department managers rather than to process owners. Why not make the approval process more flexible to accomodate this?
