I often get asked by some techs to add a new tech to their tech group. And they want the new tech to mirror the same access that the current tech already has. It would be nice to do this. Similar to how this is available when creating request types.
The same would apply to tech groups. I will sometimes get a request to create a new tech group that has all the techs in Tech Group 1 already plus a few others that will be added. Would it be possible to allow tech groups to copy settings/tech membership from another tech group.
Just to elaborate:
Say Tech A is in Group 1, 2 ,3 and 4. And I want to add 3 more techs to the WHD with the same type of Tech group access, there's no real quick way to do it. Currently, the options are to go to each tech account and add the tech to each tech group. Or go to each tech group and added the new tech accounts you want. A lot of clicking and repetitive work if you catch my drift.
Maybe there's a way to mimic the manner in which Request Types can have its options copied to 1 level of sub-request types or ALL sub-request types. As you are may be aware there's also a button that allows you to mirror one request type's options to another request type (regardless of whether they are a sub-request type).
So imagine the following: You create a tech account. In that tech account page you get the option to mirror another tech account's settings (from permissions to tech group access). Or if you're the account that needs to be mirrored, allow that tech account (lets call it Tech A) to become a supervisor to a set of tech accounts and then give an option to apply that tech account's settings (permissions and tech group access) to the tech accounts who are supervised by Tech A.
Hope that makes a bit more sense. I'm not sure how realistic or doable something like that is, but it would make adding and modifying tech accounts so much easier. As we continue to add accounts to our WHD, it's becoming a lot of work to manually edit tech accounts in terms of adding them to tech groups.
