Bulk Scanning of Asset Tags and Serial Numbers

When adding new assets, it would be nice to have a way to bulk scan in new devices. For example, if I have 500 laptops that I'm unboxing and tagging, it would nice to have an interface where I could scan the asset tag and serial number to enter the device in inventory. Ideally, WMI or ARD would later discovery those devices and fill in the rest of the details.

Love love love this idea!   There absolutely should be a “bulk scan” feature where you set maybe one or more fields as the “template” for each new asset record created while in “bulk scan” mode, then click “Go”.

The system then requires only the asset tag and serial number for example for each record created using fields you set prior when you set the template.

It should be able to repeat the process hundreds of times having the operator only need to use a scan gun (i.e. there shouldn’t be a need to press enter or click OK using a keyboard or mouse to save records).

A sales advantage for Web Help Desk would be if this was setup so that it works while using a mobile phone also - it’s old school these days to use a physical scanner connected by USB to the computer.  Let’s think outside the box and imagine how we can enable the operator to use a mobile phone to scan hundreds of new assets into Web Help Desk!!
