I recently demoed a product from another network management company that provides historical graphs of response time (as Solar Winds does) but breaks it out into network time, DNS time, server time, application time, client time, and SSL response time. I'd l'd like to see SolarWinds do something similar, either integrated with NetPath (which does a great job of showing hop to hop response time) or generally with SAM/NPM. This would allow us not only to monitor and alert on total response time, but the components that go into that total, quickly pinpointing a DNS issue, application issue, network or other issue.
