k ntory We currently use NCM to collect configurations and inventory all of our production network devices. Unfortunately, this doesn't include all of our DR, back-stock and firewalled network devices. Here are my suggestions:
- Add an option within NCM for offline nodes. This would be used for anything thats either not on the network or is behind a firewall that can't be monitored.
- Allow us to move an online node to the offline mode, and vice-versa, without loosing any historical data. For example, if we had an access switch that was decommissioned, it would be put into back-stock and posisibly installed at a later time. If it were moved to "offline" mode, we could still view it in our reports and see its serial number.
Without this functionality, I'm forced to rely on another piece of software.
