Asset Inventory for the real world

I know you can pull in information from 3rd party apps to get this but some shops like ours do not have the budget for yet another app. I'm just so proud to have SAM!!!!!!!!!

Asset Inventory for the real world to me (which means my boss) is:

• Server Real Name
• Server alternate IP Addresses
• Server DNS Aliases
• Server Manufacturer
• Server Manufacturer Model Number
• Server Manufacturer Serial Number
• Server Warranty Status and expiration date

This part should be automated as part of a template or process

Other items but this is a required list. Most other info can be added manually.

You already have reports that do this for you. And I've been tinkering with creating a "Subview/Tag" for my various node views.

The "General Asset Inventory" report already has:

• Node Name - typically this is the SysName ("Real Name")
• Management IP - but I would also like to see a list of all IPs on the devices (routers/switches for example)
• DNS Alias' - are missing, I'd like to see this added
• Service Tag - typically this is the serial number, but it should say Serial Number, Service tag is a Dell reference
• Device Type
• Manufacturer
• Model
• OS

The "Inventory Fixed Asset" report has:

• Node Name - typically this is the SysName ("Real Name")
• Device Type
• Service Tag - typically this is the serial number, but it should say Serial Number, Service tag is a Dell reference
• Manufacturer
• Asset Tag - based on a custom field you have to fill in
• Purchase Date - based on a custom field you have to fill in
• Purchase Date - based on a custom field you have to fill in

There is also a "Software Inventory" and "Warranty Status" report.
