Created a custom property and tried to assign nodes to it and got an error

What I did,

Created a custom property in "custom property management" --> went to assign values to it and received the following error message. What is interesting is I was able to utilize the "assign values" feature on an existing custom property just not my newly created one.

Currently using: SolarWinds Platform, Hybrid Cloud Observability Advanced Enterprise Scale: 2023.2.1

I would read all the release notes after this version and look for a similar behavior. Other than that, upgrade.

Seen that at another customer as well. Restart of SolarWinds services fixed the issue then. After upgrade to the latest versions I haven't seen this anymore.

Try this, Run this in the DB manager, maybe change the first line as per the tables in your DB

update dbo.nodes
SET <customproperty>= 'xxx'
WHERE IP_Address IN ('x.x.x.x','y.y.y.y')

"custom property name here" in the error - Feels like maybe there was some doubleclick-type interaction or something. Try again, should work ok, the feature itself isnt broke globally or anything.

Working to get an upgrade scheduled but to your point I do not think that the services have been cycled in a long time so if I can get server-level access I'd also give that a go if this does not work.

Aaaaah no worries.

I had somethign simmilar the other day - Removed the property and readded, cleared up the problem.
There's one scenario that doesnt fit into the "reset something you had a weird bug" and that's if the CP name is an illegal one, I think SW tells you if you would create those now, but stuff like "function" is bad and causes a problem. There's a KB on it somewhere.

Probably the reset though.

the reason I asked you to upgrade because I saw this before. I just read the release notes and found out it was known issue for the version I had.
