Only show physical interfaces on map

Hi All,

We have had a request from Manglement that they want a core network map on their dashboard that only shows the physical interfaces, i.e copper / fibre cables (not irb etc) as its too complicated

Is there a way to do this?
Currently the links in maps are generated via auto-dependencies

HI,

Thanks for the reply, I didnt know there was 2 types!
Its not the ones with the world map underneath, just the plain background.

Either way, having to turn off the dependency links and do it manually just for the Manglement map isn't too bad
Engineers map is ok to have it, though different colours for physical vs virtual would be great.

Hi Scott... you don't say whether this is using Network Atlas (under a deprecation notice] or Intelligent [not really] Maps.

But yes, absolutely this can be done in either tool.

For either tool it is a matter of manually linking nodes. With NA you just don't want to run the 'connect L2/L3' bits, and with IM it is a matter of turning off auto-generated connections, and then manually mapping them out. We have to do this as a matter of course for >80% of our environments as no mapping tool I've seen, trialled or used comes close to mapping out datacentre environments accurately.

If you need help on how to manually map, please shout back. It can be tedious but it is very doable.
