Hi,
I would like to know if it is possible to monitor an ESXi Host using NPM? The products that we are currently utilizing are: NPM, NTA, SAM, SEM and DPA.
How do you add the ESXi host for monitoring?
Thank you.
There will be limits to what you can monitor, but yes you can, just configure up and use SNMP on the ESXi and then configure Solarwinds in the same manner as you would for monitoring a switch or router, etc...

It would depend on the data you are looking to get. @stuartd is correct on you can use SNMP to get the various hardware/resource utilization of a host.
If you are looking for data down to the VM level, virtualization recommendations, etc..., I think you would need VIM
Hi stuartd, thanks for your reply! I now understand the process.
Thanks for your inputs Steve!
