Templates Used to Create New Dashboard

Hello,

I have a question, I am trying to recreate a new Dashboard currently in Orion - the one we have right now is a mess. I wanted to simplify individual pages by sites, instead of just one giant dashboard. I was wondering if there's possible a template out their to create a classic page? I started looking through the column widgets a little bit, I see some stuff but I'm not sure how to make it easier to read without spending hours trying to tweak what i'm looking for. Please let me know.

Should be pretty simple to make a dashboard called ~"Template" add some useful stuff, and duplicate

Would probably need at least 3 or so, for Summary Classic, Node-level classic and Modern

As @adam.beedell mentioned it is very simple from a classic dashboard perspective. Just create a Classic Summary Dashboard, build out your widgets and then duplicate it when needed. When I've done this in the past, I normally set a limit via group and build out dynamic groups based on the need (Responsible Team, Email Address, Location, etc...). The main draw back is, if you end up adding/modifying/removing a widget to the dashboard, you would need to make the change to every dashboard you made from the template.

The modern dashboard gets a bit more tricky. You could build out a template and duplicate. This would then require you to update every widget with whatever you are limiting the view off of, before you deploy it to the team. Then as you add/modify additional widgets, you would once again have to update whatever widget change you made. There are ways to build your query into the URL itself, but I haven't dove that far down that specific rabit hole as of yet. I know it works for certain queries, but you are unable to set a teams default view to a specific URL like that. So it wasn't realy viable for the URL query in my environment.

This is what I started to do, my plan is to make one of these for each sites - Troy, Mexico, Ohio. I added the all hosts for each column filter nodes thing using SWQL. How do I add the VMware ESXI hosts, I tried looking through the resources. Then the only thing I noticed from the in the "Hardware Health Overview" is not all our devices are showing up, anyone know how to adjust this so I have more showing up?

Got a filter on the page or on each element? I'd assume on the page

If the hardware stuff is available, but not visible, probably got to add to the filter

If the hardware stuff isn't available, usually a List Resources, if it's not there and it's not actually a VM etc (as in, doesn't have hardware in the first place) those problems can be tough to solve.

I expect you're in the "it's the filter" camp

It's possible to script up a remake-this-for-x-sites action, not super straightforward, but doable if you've got 1000s of these to do

Do you have the hosts in there as nodes? I know if you are pulling them in via VIM and vCenter, they do present differently in the console if you also did not configure a node for them as well.

On the modern dashboard front, there is a concept called Global Filters that allow you to use URL base filtering. It gives the ability to have a single "templatable" dashboard and then update the URL to show/not show data on the widgets. In a future release we plan on bringing in a filter icon into the top right of the modern dashboard page to make using it more interactive.

One thing I forgot to mention and I'll save everyone the trouble I faced. When trying to filter on Custom Properties, you have to add a JOIN to custom properties in your SWQL query. You don't have to reference the Custom Property in your SELECT at all. As long as it exists in the JOIN then you can use Custom Properties as filters.
