Is it possible to create only admin account in SolarWinds Console

Greetings...!!!

I would like to create an account with only Admin rights. Is it possible to do this? Please refer to the snapshot below for your reference. I want the "Allow Only Admin Rights" option to be set to yes, and all other options to be set to no.

I have tried to do this, but I am unable to set "No" for the other options highlighted in red. I need to create this user ID in order to manually install SolarWinds agents, which i was downloaded from the SolarWinds web console and paste the same into the Windows DB server and want to install the agent in it. Please advise

You've already answered your own question, but for clarity then, no you can't create an admin user and disable other rights. After all, the whole idea of an admin account is that it can "administer" any aspect of the environment.

That said, perhaps if you tell us what you are trying to achieve then there might be an alternative approach?

Yes, You are absolutely correct.

I need to manually install SolarWinds agents that I downloaded from the SolarWinds web console onto the Windows DB server.

For this, I require independent user credentials that are not associated with any specific user, as the company does not want to provide local system admin user credentials.

The only user with access to the DB has credentials that expire every three months, so the organization does not want to use those credentials for agent installation. If we were to use those credentials, I would need to update them every three months on the SolarWinds web console, otherwise the agent will not work.

The logical solution here, the organisation being willing, is to create a separate account just for the purpose you need but restrict who has access to the password.

Might be able to tweak it in the DB outside of what the UI lets you set, but an admin could then give themselves whatever rights they want so it doesnt change much really.

Once you've set an agent running though you dont need the account again, so that could be fine (from the chain with Stuart)

what I understood is you want to install solarwinds agent manually , which ask for admin credential of solarwinds console.

How about pushing agent from solarwinds console directly by getting local admin access to server.

Or if it is a windows server you can also try WMI connection

Only offline installation is allowed, they are not ready to give user details with local admin rights.

Considering this point, I have created a new user with admin rights for further installation of offline SW agents
