I did already see the now locked Windows silent Agent install How to pass Server, Username, Password by @swright and the title and question he asks fits with exactly what we are wondering. However, the conversation never gets around to, nor do the articles describe, how you can pass in the Server, Username and Password to the Agent form the command prompt or otherwise remove these manual steps. Is this possible and what is the syntax? Am I missing something here?
Another option we are considering is the Gold Image method of deploying the Agent. I would assume when you load the Gold Image of the Agent onto that master image, you would configure that master image of the Agent to include the Server, Username and Password. That way, when you create clones of that master image, the Agent will already contain the Server, Username and Password so you would not need to manually add them to each clone. Is that correct?
Reading the THAWACK articles related to the Gold Image method, there seems to be some differing opinions on how to setup the master image so that it works when a VM is created from it. If I am understanding this correctly and this makes sense to me, you would load the Gold Image version of the Agent to the master Image and then NOT allow it to start automatically at boot. Then, when you clone the master, you would change the Agent configuration so it does start at boot. Is that the correct configuration?
THANKS
