Question regarding solarwinds database

Hi all,

Hope you can help clear up a doubt I have.

So I was wondering, what would happen if all of a sudden my database server shutdown? Would the polling engines keep polling nodes and temporarily store the data until the database comes back? or would all the polled data be lost?

In simple terms polled data will be lost, SolarWinds does use a few things while data is in transit but it will not store the data in any place apart from its own database. Lastly, most important thing - SolarWinds database is equally important as your SolarWinds VM's, if your database is down that means you cant even open the SolarWinds console as user account authentication also requires the database to be intact, no matter what sort of accounts you use to login - orion, saml, ad etc..
