I am currently working on integrating a lot of workflow that has been in SharePoint and PowerApps into our SWSD to keep everything contained within one location and because a lot of that workflow ends up creating incidents anyway.
One such workflow is for onboarding new users. The current flow is:
- HR notifies for a new start
- Supervisor of new hire fills out a New User Access Form
- Once the form has been submitted, IT creates the account and prepares equipment
For a while now, we've had the New User Access Form as a Service Catalog item and that's been working well. I'm now working on creating an additional Service Catalog item for the initial HR notification, and I'm wondering if there's a way for the following:
- HR sends notification - service catalog creates new incident
- A task within the HR incident is assigned to the supervisor requesting them to submit form
- Supervisor submits form, the form's service catalog 'incident' is attached to HR incident
- Workflow proceeds as normal
Is there any way to call or link service catalog items together like this? If not directly, can it be done via automation?
