Cisco 4500X Switches in VSS - Ability to Find BOTH Supervisor Serial Numbers?

Hi,

I am struggling to find a solution to this. It seems like there is an abundant lack of support for the 4500X models when configured in a VSS. I am attempting to find the serial numbers for BOTH of the supervisor modules. SolarWinds by default only seems to list the active supervisors serial number. Does anyone have a solution?

I have went through the pollers, and the "Switch Stack" poller cannot be applied. I have also checked the "Thwack Community Pollers" and wasn't able to find anything of use there either.

Can you see the other serial number if you SNMP Walk the box?

If so, then I suspect you will have to go down the line of creating a UnDP to extract them and then create a report that details them. We have had to do just this for HPe switches that are "stacked" [strictly speaking they call it an IRF] as SolarWinds cannot extract them.

I guess if your coding skills are good enough - mine are not - then you could also push those results into a custom property.

Thanks, I ended up doing this. For anyone who sees this and is having the same question, create a Universal Device Poller with the following OID for the standby supervisor serial:

1.3.6.1.2.1.47.1.1.1.1.11.500

This should work on any device where the machinetype is Cisco Catalyst 4500 L3
