Application Component Unknown State

Question

Hi Experts,

In Solarwinds events, I got messages stating "SQL Server VSS Writer" in Unknown state. Rsyslog windows Agent is in unknown State.

When I logged into the server and checked the event viewer there is no information logged in. The VSS and Rsyslog server services are running perfectly fine.

When does an "Unknown State" means.

Any Suggestion on the troubleshooting will be very much appreciated.

The "SQL Server VSS Writer" component is unable to connect to the server. Did you test the AppInsight template before you applied it? Unknown state can be related to permissions.
