Hello
We run quite a few cluster between different sites with different subnets. We often run into problems where when we come to failover a service (Microsoft Failover Clustering) we find that the IP address that needs to be used by the cluster in the other site has already been snagged by some other machine.
Does anyone know of any template that's already been created that could monitor for 'there will be an IP conflict if you try and failover' - I know the Microsoft CLuster template, checks for this exact message (IP address conflict) but at this point the cluster would have already failed to come online!
What I want is if that second cluster IP address comes online, and if it's not the cluster bringing it online, then there should be some alert to say some other machines has snagged the IP address.
Now, we use IPAM for assigning IP address, and either people are not checking this before assigning IP addresses, or there is something wrong and the "reserved flag" is being cleared/reset between failover events.
Just wondering what others are doing in this area.
Thanks
Matt
