Have you tried just editing the node in web node management and changing the IP? It's not about a node changing IP - it's about interfaces being replaced by other interfaces - and Orion being unable to handle this. It's not as uncommen as it might sound - to upgrade the bandwidth of a link you'll often have to upgrade the…

Orion doesnt need the MIB files - the MIB files are simply a way to document what data each OID contains. Once you have a OID simply enter it into the universal device poller to create a poller for the values in that OID. About opening MIB's in the Toolset - sorry I have no idea - try the free download of the MIB browser I…

I've had the same issue since switching to Orion V9 - was not an issue with V8.5.1sp3 Tried the guide Mark suggested - found nothing. According to the database my Polling Completion is at 99.84 % and the load on my SQL server is minimal and well within limits.

I'm gonna be 'naughty' and bump this one - seems like something that would be very easy to implement ?

Not excactly Byrona.. You can configure all chart settings in the CustomPollers-NetPerfMon.Charts file in the Orion directory. The 'correct' chart that lundpetersen has posted is from my Orion installation - I've been doing this little trick since Orion V8 as far as I recall :) Why this isn't build into the admin options…

Monitoring of HP Storageworks (Brocade) FC switches would be great !

I'm having the excact same issue. Fresh installation of Windows Server 2003 + sp2 + all security updates + .Net Framework 3 (and updates) I can bring up the Wizard and click "Install Services" - which will always result in "Run-time error '9': Subscript out of range. This is a rather big deal for us as we're testing the…

I'm still really looking for a solution to this.

With the Orion Broadband version being EOL'd - I'd very much like basicly any tables in CISCO-DOCS-EXT-MIB to be supported. www.oidview.com/.../CISCO-DOCS-EXT-MIB.html

I got the following from Kevin Twomey from Solarwinds support - one of the few who's actually been able to produce some results on the issues we have. For Orion 8.5.1 - maybe earlier version aswel - I don't know ! In the install directory, there is a file called "C:\Program…

I'm getting this error after upgrading from 9.5.1 to 10.0 (final) aswell HELP !!

How much free memory do you have on the Orion box? Is the server paging? Same on the SQL box but also note the avg disk queue length. There's plenty of available memory on both servers - ~500 MB on the Orion-poller and more than 1GB on the SQL server. About the avg. disk queue length - it does skyrocket from time to time -…

Yes that's certainly possible - but in practice that means that every time you add OR delete an interface in Orion you must also edit all your Universal device poller tables that might mention that interface. This might not seem like that much work when you test it - but in large environments it's impossible to keep in…

Yeah I'm aware of how it looks - I did not check my charts prior to upgrading but if there by some weird coincidence was an error in my polling setup prior to upgrading I'm sure our support staff who uses Orion would have notified me.I did not notice it myself this morning before upgrading. Moreover my customcharts are all…

I've been having issues with poor Orion performance aswell - also while running on highend hardware with the DB using 16 spindles on our SAN. Upgrading to NPM 10.2 made a world of difference to us although we still get poor performance during the day when many people are using the web frontend. I'm currently looking into…

Any reason as to why Orion does not provide an option to complete disable the polling of interface errors ? We dont use the results for anything but manually unticking the polling on every interface added is tedious. With 6000 interfaces I assume this takes up alot of room in our DB.
-
It took us about a year to get all of our bugs fixed (one remaining where Orions reports shows incorrect bandwidth utilization for Docsis cable interfaces) - Upgrading to 9.1 and 9.1sp1 was the first really positiv experience I've had since we started with Orion almost 2 years ago. But our current installation (V9.1sp1)…

we had a number of down alerts...the came back during our reboot period (3 to 5am)...at 5, all the downs were reported...they were not down...I rebooted Orion and they all came back...wondering if a service got in a weird state...if this happens again, I will check for that... I can confirm that this is indeed an issue -…

I'm glad to hear it worked for some of you - for me the upgrade process has been anything but painless.. During the 8.5.1 -> 9.0 upgrade process the installation hung with a database error - spend most of my day on the phone with solarwinds support to get it sortet out. After the upgrade to V9 - my custom poller charts are…

While the server failed no data was logged to the database - notice the data gap from 10-01-2009 01:21:34 to 09:11:35 - it's this lack of data that I wish to somehow create an alert for - Although I realize this might not be possible at all. Notice that the rows with 0's (00:31:34 & 09:11:35) are caused be the service…

You are right that it is possible for a few predefined groups - based on Vendor, IOS image etc.. - but these groups are useless for filtering out interfaces.
-
Uhm yeah it is a single numeric value - what do you suggest ?
-
The DB server uses a dedicated fiberchannel link to it's own LUN on our SAN (which is in no way heavy loaded and not servicing any other db servers) I'm certain that we have no issues with performance here. We have about 5 charts in each 'view' - I assume this is pretty normal - It's only the charts that are genrated…

With the latest versions of Orion is actually become very easy to add devices that are not directly supported (Like most Cisco devices, Windows servers etc..) The first thing you need is to find the MIBs for the device type you wish to monitor - for Junos and ScreenOS devices they can be found on the Juniper website under…
-
I'm having the excact same problem - Got a case open with support right now. Did you ever manage to get it working ??
-
Yeah that is partially true - but you'll also get all other interfaces with that node name in its caption. IE two switches connected to another - the Description on the trunk port on switch#1 is "Connected to swich#2" and visa versa Any search on Switch#2 will correctly return all interfaces on switch#2 but also the Trunk…

I'll be waiting in line for the final release aswell :)
-
Dunno what SMSC is exactly - But I've been using a sms gateway with Orion for years - works flawlessly. Orion sends an email to the SMS gateway which forwards the contents as a SMS.
-
You'll need to provide some more details - are we talking Cisco equipment ? Have you tried looking through the Cisco MIB's ?
-
The only purpose for it IMHO is to access nodes that you've filtered out on your other pages. For instance lab equipment that doesnt meet the requirements (IE SNMP location) to be show on the main page. If you design your Orion installation properly the overview should not even be necessary. Short answer - I never use it -…
