Hi leigham martin, thank you for the quick response . Much appreciated. Yes, we have a domain admin service account for Solarwinds and which is being used and added on the server administrators group as well. The same account has been provided for WMI access as well. Out of 1400 servers, getting mentioned access error for…

Hi designerfx, Though I had setup the Parent Child setup manually for some sites, still it seems did not work. They reported that they still see the alerts for the devices. I had group the routers and remaining devices in the site as Child group. Then in the dependencies assigned router group as Parent and other devices…

Hi designerfx, Sorry, I did not get the intense of your question . The task is to keep the devices in Unmanaged Mode by scheduling, since they have a monthly outage every 2nd Sunday, to do some system specific tasks on AS400 servers. They take outage and may reboot them as well. Hope I have answered now

Hi David, I tried with the Administrator user-id as .\user-id and servername\user-id to install the agent. It shows credentials have failed. Our Solarwinds servers in a domain and hence we could monitor all the servers/devices which are in the same domain . Did you mean to use the in-built Administrator user-id and…

Even, I have to create the certificate by running the configuration wizard. Then the problem was resolved .

Hi, How did you change the certificate. Please provide the steps. I am also having the same problem. Thank you.

Hi leigham martin, Sorry, I could not respond quickly, due to busy with other work. For your first question, yes, majority of the servers are DCs. But, we are getting the error for other type of servers as well. sbox1107 is not from our company. Please see below the answers inline to your queries. Has all your SNMP…

Hi jblankjblank, thank you for your details write up. Yes, it really helps us. We also suspected the memory and multiple sessions are closed directly (Remotely) might be causing. I will pass your suggestions and check on those Disk related as well. The SQL server is allowed to use maximum memory available.

Yes, true. Your above query is perfect to get the count of number of nodes down irrespective of number devices down. I just gave an alternate solution at the node level . Thanks for the query.

Hi, I have created a group with 2 VMs of the same site and created a dependency of a Switch as a Parent under the via Manage Dependencies. Here, the 2 VMs are under the that Switch. When I selected the parent and clicked on "Alerts on Child", it shows as below. In the Parent, chosen the group I have created. As per the…

Hi designerfx, Thanks for the detailed information. Yes, I would like to write an alert on the instance, with service name or display name in the trigger condition for the instance MOM5_PRODUCTION. I tried with Component name (alerting properties) contains MSSQL@MOM5_PRODUCTION. Still I did not get it. So, I am looking…

designerfx Here is an example. Currently EMEA TZ, CET has 1 hour behind UTC (UTC - 1). If I setup the schedule as per the CET (e.g. schedule to run @ 11:25 AM CET, 10:25 AM UTC), after the Daylight savings during month end or april first week, the CET becomes 2 hours behind UTC (UTC - 2). Since we selected the check box…

Hi @designerfx, I have disabled the auto dependency from Settings -> Polling Settings -> Enable Auto Dependencies. Here it shows a tick mark, if the auto is enabled. I have unchecked to turn off the Auto dependencies .

Hi @i_like_eggs, thanks for the quick confirmation. I have updated 2 serial interfaces in one device. We will check tomorrow, if any values are being shown.
-
Hi designerfx, I have moved all the dependencies which were auto generated to ignore. After that it has been observed that, during the ISP link down or power outage, we are getting tickets only for routers as expected and all other devices are being shown with (Yellow color), and no incidents were generated. But, after 2…

Thank you for the quick reply. If I use it in Report generation, under SWQL, still it would work, for the fields like detailsurl, ipaddress, etc.? Let me try out.
-
Hi David, Server team is ready to do that way only. But, our testing was not successful, in either ways i.e. .\domain-id or machineName\domain-id. Struck here and could not move further. Thank you.

Hi Rhidian, Thanks for the detailed write-up, which definitely helps .

Hi, We have not migrated to any servers. We have done upgrade on existing Windows 2012 data center servers only. We have plan to upgrade the servers, not sure, which servers, but they would be new servers . smoked_angus: I have got an update that we would migrate to 2016 (both Windows and SQL).

Even, we are planning to move DB with SSD, so that the performance would be significant. Though we are already on SQL 2012 SP1, still slowness is there on the application. The DB VM has 32GB and allocated 85%, remaining 15% being utlized by Windows. We are also planning to upgrade our VMs with high configuration. We have…

When you write a new alert rule, go to Trigger Condition tab and at the bottom, you can see the "Condition must exist for more than .." option. Check that box and by default it shows 10 minutes. Change it it 2 minutes.

Hi designerfx, here is an update from Network team regarding the serial interfaces. The mentioned VLAN is a production one and configured properly. They could see the traffic flowing as well. Please throw some light on this. Thanks.

mprobus - The thing is I work also on SCOM, so got bit confused. I know and see some of the services are being monitored using the application monitor templates. There I could not find the mentioned server under "Assigned Application Monitors", where it shows the devices with assigned templates. Thanks for the confirmation…

Hi jblankjblank, We have been facing this issue since 10 days and it happens while login to Orion Web Console. It is an intermittent issue. When we launch LogAdjuster.exe and enable Hubble Active, it shows a red (rather pink) bar on the console. When the Database time is less, users are able to login, when it is high some…

Yes, true. It generates alert for each node, which is down. For that purpose, a count of the node down should be sent an email to his email-id. Of course, you rule works, but I don't think that condition > 0.5 is required. If 40 nodes are down, then? He had just mentioned an example that he wanted to know these many Nodes…

Hi aLTeReGo, martian monster, We have created a local admin account as svc.solarwindswg on one server and tried to use in two ways. But no luck. .\svc.solarwindswg and ServerName\svc.solarwindswg In both ways WMI test failed. What else could be the problem.
-
Hi, I just tried by restarting the Orion services only (since it is off business hours) and it worked. Now I see the last database sync as a few seconds ago . Thank you.
-
Hi, We have not enabled AppInsight monitoring. Hence, they don't want the service try to connect to the SQL DB. Where else to be checked in Solarwinds to stop the account.

designerfx - Thanks for the details information with suggestions. The only thing I got confused how to use the dependency in the alert rule. I would create a new group with the child devices (max 2) and the parent, I need to create under dependency with these 2 devices, right? Then I can use the group status in the alert…

@Steven Klassen - Yes, Some automatic dependencies were created and Groups were created. I got confused how to used them in an alert. When I tried to search in alerting rule, I could find a group based fields, but not the dependencies. The only confusion for me is how to use the dependencies. Based on the suggestion from…
