Smart move. You thought you guys got hate mail before...

I've seen that infograph before!!! I used it to try and sell WebDesk to my company. Our Servic Desk has a lot of growth opportunity available. They are still rooted in answering calls only... <sigh!>

Bump it! It's your civic duty!

Did the author actually refer to a basketball game as a "match"? Oh how british of you. :-)

One element that is missing from your blog is, "...the need for simplicity." For example, I remember years ago when video conferencing started to gain momentum and all the VTC evangelists preached how many years earlier the comic strip, "*** Tracey", predicted the arrival of video phones with his wrist watch. What they…

It's Thursday, Bump Day!

When I took over security for my company I was overwhelmed by the attention reqyireq to just satisfy the "basics." Almost two years later and I am still tackling the basics so that we can establish a baseline.

All fair points... what we might have here is a Chicken or the Egg scenario when it comes to People/Processes/Software.

I am not seeing today's update, Day 4, this morning. I wake up looking forward to it and then you deny me? *gasp*

I see it here at my company as well/. They will invest in a vendor for a technology that is $5 cheaper than what our incumbent vendor will charge. I go hoarse trying to convince them that the upfront value is lost in the Support area as it means we have another vendor to manage, another Client Portal we have to deal with,…

"Failure to plan is planning to fail!" Truer words have never been spoken. And to follow that up. "To achieve great things, two things are needed; a plan, and not quite enough time." - Leonard Bernstein This is how great things happen.

Well ya grabby some NattyBoh & some Fishers and I'll meet ya down at Hoopers with the mallets and Old Bay! ;-)

No. You're not... DevOps >> Automation >> Training/Adaptation >> Virtualization >> Cloud More often than not the article starts something like this, "Now more than ever..." I've read that same article for the past 20 years. The technology and names are different. The message is the same.

So adatole have you made a choice? Or should a poll of the Top 10 be thrown out there for vote?
-
The unicorn picture says it all. Security always gets in the way of the grand vision cast by development. DevOps bridges Development and Operations so that it inadvertently cheats the protocols in place for structure and standardization. We have it here in my company and I always have to be a party pooper.

A few months ago my company's IT leadership was presented Cisco's Cloud offering. I think we had asked for information on SDN or something, so we got their CLoud presentation. Typical Cisco. My rationale on the Verizon purchase of Yahoo! is: What was Verizon trying to acquire from Yahoo! with the purchase? And what does…

Oh SCSI... how I long for the simple days of slow, slow, slow RAID's. lol! The technology today is amazing. And what is happening with the in-memory technology will be a gamechanger for storage systems too.

Tuesday sliiiiiiiiiiiide & BUMP!!!

For someone who is such a big Black Mirror fan (BTW, Season 4 coming soon! Giddy!) IoT presents some very scary opportunities, inside the house and out. As a whole our society is becoming gullible with technology. There are several examples of this today. And the trust we put into technology continues to go deeper and…

This was the toughest decision of my life

"How about a nice game of chess?" This movie touched the heart of an ole' dial-up BBS'er.

I have to imagine every tech decision or action made in the Fed corridors security has to be absolutely positively paramount every time. From the outside it feels that the Feds are continually under siege.

Syslog is your supporting data much like any logging that occurred during a disaster recovery event. It will be you processes that will come under the most scrutiny. (Shameless plug: My blog on Disaster Recovery, "The Devil Is In the Details") Dashboards, UX monitoring, Service Desk call volume, and so on... will also be…

OMG Yes!!! Seriously... why isn't this a thing?

Ugh! Bleeding edge... I think I can only handle one of those in my lifetime. My company was one of the first seven SAP customers to rollout HANA. It durn near wiped us all out. I am now all for riding the coattails of someone else's blood and sweat. I don't mind waiting a bit for the wrinkles to be ironed out. I still…

I expressed interest in FSM, unknowingly, right after Solarwinds EOM'ed it. They advised me to use the NPM/NCM/LEM combo to replicate FSM's functionality. Have you had any success doing that?

I am not sure if this was covered in another thread... but when I look at my Mission badges I see 10+ of these. Is this going to be cleaned up to be just 1?

I don't have much to add this week but this. This is a picture of my daughter during Mother's Day breakfast at a local café in Ocean City, MD. She is using a strip of bacon to scrape all of the butter out of the container. An ode to a furnace metabolism and malleable arteries. :-)

I am angry at myself for having to vote for either.

Okay... this is scheduled too far out. I am too giddy to wait. Argh!!!
