I am giddy with anticipation!
-
So you're saying there's still a chance?!?
-
On the old platform I had so many points that I gave Thwack bags away as Christmas presents. lol
-
Will there be MVP's for 2026?
-
I took down my SolarWinds Ninja fathead down last year. The wife said that it didn't go with the vibe of the room… or something like that.
-
Did they ever announce the winners of the prizes?
-
Good ole' days indeed. I've won twice since 2013. The 2nd one I declined because I wasn't a gamer so it was given to someone else.
-
They truncated my article! :-(
-
BUMP! Bump! Bump!
-
@Walshy Are there any updates to the Store coming back online?
-
Well, I'm not going anywhere even if my engagement is down 90%. (I don't manage a SolarWinds installation anymore) I hate to be that guy but I sure do miss the good ole' days.

It was inevitable. Traffic and activity is way down.

Hybrid IT is the cro magnan of the IT evolution. IT is getting closer. The next phase is Cloud, and then the final is... who knows? The "Nebula"?
-
I did read it. I jumped ahead to my own dilemna. The only reason I keep cable is because of NFL and MLB. The few shows I do watch I can get online, or wait to get to online. MLB's online access is so strict that you CANNOT watch a team in market online, period. You are blacked out. THey make you watch it on TV/cable.

Another great year of Thwack zaniness and Geek fun. This year's content speaks volumes to the creativity and dedication of all the staff. What a great place to work and be is Solarwinds. Happy New Year to everyone and I look forward to 2017!

Signing up now. kong.yang Advance warning: I will be asking the question on how to monitor admin activity on the Host for when a new host is created/deleted, powered on/off/suspended. Accounts are created/removed/updated/login failures. And a whole slew of Permission Events. I have barked up this tree many times before…

Yea... sorry 'bout that. It's Friday, end of contest... long week... too much snow. Too much time spent stuck in the house with the kids.
-
Okay, I am going throw down a little Old School here because I already run these products today and I thought it would be unfair to take a shirt away from someone else. So here is me wearing my Solarwinds Labs shirt in front of my favorite Solarwinds tchotchke, The Solarwinds Network Ninja! <pun intended!>

I have worked with security consultants to test my company. Their starting point was with LinkedIn. They scanned my company's profile, determined the organizational structure of the executives, made some persuasive phone calls, and hacked passwords in less than a day. Amazing. In the end it comes down to User Training.…

Happy Birthday! It's fun to watch them grow up!

"My friends really are my friends." I, like many of us, was blessed to be born before the onslaught of social media. Therefore in my formative years I developed friendships without the foundation of social media. The core friends I have today I have had since kindergarten and first grade (I am in my late 40's). We've…

That is almost exactly how the scene played out in with The West Wing. Oliver Platt as the lawyer and I think it was Bradley Whitfield...

Me neither...

I question the effectiveness of in-flight monitoring. Where does the marshal sit to collect data? If it is a Southwest flight the seating is all random so the poor guy could be surrounded by a family of 5 headed to Orlando. Also, if we could ever agree to do a Baltimore SWUG I may be able to pull a few strings and get a…

I agree. SNMP is as resilient as IPv4. I've heard talk for years that SNMP will be "phased out" and yet it sill sticks around. I agree with you, SNMP needs to evolve to keep alive. Given that it is so rudimentary now I am not sure myself how it evolves.

I am becoming a bigger fan of Satya Nadella. He's cut from a different cloth. I need to find a reason to make it to Ignite next year...

"Have you faced a similar issue as well, where you identify a problem which isn’t your problem and the challenges faced in trying to resolve it? Or perhaps even just having accountability for something which isn’t your responsibility and the woes of trying to get parties to take responsibility?" Darm near everyday! My…

You raise valid concerns that are prevalent with every technology shift. It all boils down to a Leap of Faith... in the technology, the vendor, the R&D, the future in general. To that I say: Do your research, consider all reasonable options, and then make your best educated guess on what to do. Commit to it, don't allow…

Over the past two I have been responsible for hardening our firewall security. Prior to this the "Network team" would install a firewall in our 35+ offices in a "Set it! And Forget it!" style. So after we standardized our firewalls and centralized the administration we continued with the installs in the remaining offices.…
