I am finishing up season 4 now. Metalhead & Black Museum were intense. It kills me that there are only 4-5 episodes per season. I hear Altered Carbon is a nice transition from Black Mirror... it is next on my list.

Short Circuit. Ex Machina hits a little too close to home. But that's a story for another blog. ;-)

I won a $250 Lego gift card in a drawing the first day of TC. I think it was in December 2013 right before the Lego Movie came out but the title song had already been released. I responded in the chat, "Everything Is Awesome!" and Patrick Hubbard laughed.

A little tactical ignorance can go a long way sometimes I find. Instead of trying to keep up with the expert and his/her expertise I try to slow the pace down to a level that I can keep up with. Then it is closer to a level playing field,

You say: Tip #1: Get visibility into the entire application stack. The days of discrete monitoring tools are over. Today’s government IT pros must have visibility across the entire application stack, or the application delivery chain comprising the application and all the backend IT that supports it -- software,…

"It doesn’t need to break to be fixed" I assumed that with the razor-thin IT budgets for healthcare that this was the marching orders... unfortunately.

Interesting approach. A little too high level and basic for me though... even as a starting point for a template to follow. But on the flipside it does allow flexibility for you to take your own path.

I wonder if this speaks to the job frustration level that is found in the Federal Gvt. ? (Of course the private sector has high levels of job frustration too) Policies and Procedures notwithstanding, IT management and HR should be very in tune with not only the job performance of the staff who have the "keys to the…

Sneakers was a quietly good movie. A very good movie that incorporated many levels of security attacks to be successful. My personal favorite was Robert Redford with the birthday cake and balloons pestering the security guard to buzz him in. How effective is that?!? Hacking for hobby can be a slippery slope and needs to be…

Hi Jon Frazier, Jfrazier , thanks for joining us!

Favorite memory? 2014 Thwack Camp... patrick.hubbard read off my name for the winner of the $250 Lego Gift Card, and then he read my response and laughed, "Everything is Awesome!" (in reference to The Lego Movie) I ended up donating the card to my daughter's infant & toddler's daycare for special needs children. Lego…

Thanks guys! You are giving it away at $19. I have a few people here who could benefit from this.

What are your thoughts about the introduction of in-memory computing? Such as SAP's HANA. SAP is pushing their customers to migrate their entire ERP onto HANA whereas when HANA was first released it was only used for analytics.

Seasoned and mature IT professionals salivate over the post mortem. Never let a good crises go to waste. ;-) It's your time to bend the ear of the executives to get what you've been clamoring for the past x months to prevent the catastrophe that final just occurred.

Yes, AOL has employees. They are diversified now. I also believe that they are waiting to get bought up by a bigger fish.

I've been waiting all day with baited breath for Day 23's posting. Did I miss something?

With technology, test and verify first. If you go all in on the Cloud with your PRD environment good luck to you. Test! Test with non-PRD and non-essential services. Not all Cloud providers are the same.

All hail the SDN! Worship the mighty SDN. We Infrastructure minions bow in the almighty presence of the SDN. SDN is the quarterback prom king who gets the gal. Infrastructure is the O-line who gets their faces smashed in the trenches. All guys! No glory. Accept it lads (and lasses) and move on. We chose our paths...

Exciting stuff!!! Customer labs is my favorite of this so far. I do DL eval copies sometimes, but the ramp-up time for these in my environment can be quite difficult. The Lab will makes this 10x better!

I have made my career on being the "Man in the Middle." Far too often I have been the dumbest man in the room and I've been okay with that because I was always surrounded by SME's from different disciplines. My role was to get them to thinking cohesively and work towards the common goal, "Solve the Problem!" If the effort…

My personal favorite, and my life motto:

Given the lack of available bodies the demand for automation and Security as a Service will increase. The smart players will learn how to develop these deliverables and bring them to market. Companies know that security has become a necessity so they can't go without it any further. Smart companies will recognize this and…

"Cloud" is being referenced in many different circles these days. We'll soon have to clarify the "IT Cloud" at the rate things are going.

Vinay! Buddy! Always look forward to your insightful feedback! :-)

Studies show that customer loyalty is nearing rock bottom. Customers will have little patience for sub-standard service, poor quality, and non-competitive prices. Companies should never be comfortable or rest on their laurels. Customers will leave them in droves after one mistake.
