I'll throw this idea out for consideration because it is a real challenge I am faced with. Whatever your critical path for monitoring is, whether it be a standalone poller, or you are monitoring the from remote, make sure they (they = poller, switch, firewall, etc.) on a UPS that can be monitored. Here's why... My…

Weird...I had a call with ashley.orr regarding ASA back in May. (*sniff* I guess our time together was forgettable) ANyway... I shared with her that I would have liked more out-of-the-box monitoring. Some of our KPI's are: Total Licenses (for Capacity Mgmt reasons), # Active Sessions, type of sessions (VPN client, web…

Umm, no, I guess not? You could program a lot of it yourself and miss out on so, so, so, so, much! In the end you'll be chasing your tail as you are constantly programming and updating as you are busily fill gaps from now until the end of time. So good luck with that.

I am dealing with the same problem at my company. What I have done to help circumvent that is: 1. Organized my nodes by: Business Unit, geographical location, Business function, IT Tier & Support level, and Service Owner. 2. Organized the nodes into customized Dashboards based on the above categories. 3. Added Tabs to each…

I monitor the Windows Services related to BOBJ, for starters. I also monitor the webpages and the available ports. How are you trying to monitor BOBJ?

Please le us all know when you have a resolution. I am very curious to see what the outcome will be.

1. Yes, we use dependencies. We have a handful of dependencies in place between servers but no applications. The majority of our dependencies are setup on our routers.

In the past 7 months I have put 40k to my tally. But then again I have lost contact with my wife and kids and I am about to get fired... but it is totally worth it! :-)

if it wasn't for my meddling kids I would have my points and be closer to this goal. Durn family getting in the way. And BTW, congrats to you all.

I've been at this company for 6 years. My primary objective has always been to build and continue to improve our DR strategy and Business Continuity Preparedness. I won't bore you with the sordid details but during the first 5 years we ripped out a lot of IT, and installed a lot MORE IT in its place. As a result we've made…

Thanks josh.haberman I appreciate the "Shout Out!" The reasoning behind my idea was to get feedback on some of the swag ahead of buying it. I see soooo many questions being asked about them. So I figured here's a chance to whittle those down some. Also, some of those Amazon reviews are hilariously written so here's an…

Oddly enough, when I was sitting on Santa's lap a few weeks ago I asked for the very same thing. He said he would get back to me. I gave him @jhynds name as a POC. So get ready for a call @jhynds. You'll want to stay off the naughty list.
