Very Very Very cool! Time flies when you're having so much fun!

Approximately, yes.

This has been my worst month to date. I don't know what's wrong with me. I guess this MVP status has already gotten in my head. I'malready brushing off my co-workers and demanding them to address as Mr. MVP. ;-)

This article couldn't be more timely for me. I just found out yesterday that my Solarwinds product suite will be GREATLY expanding! Yeay! Constantly upgrading? Boo! Has Solarwinds thught of offering a Cloud-based offering?

Nice write-up. I started having a fascination with business continuity immediately after 9/11. It became a life choice for me and my wife after my daughter was born with special needs. It became a part of my career a couple of years after that. My family is used to lockdown, isolation and preparation. We were able to…

I'm taking this show on the road!!! I went back and read my Psuedo-Sports Gameday commentary (which I got a surprisingly few Likes by the way, but my feelings aren't hurt! <*sniff!*>), I was 7 for 8!! I overestimated the "power" or Remote Powershell... ahem!!!

BUMP!

I have 2 HA pairs, 2 QA's, 2 DEV's, and umpteen SBX installations that I am constantly struggling with SolMan to get properly monitored.

I am almost ashamed to admit it but my company's Incident Mgmt processes are predominantly in the first picture. Reason being is that the antiquated tool that we use, BMC's very EOL "Service Desk Express" (for a company of over 5,000), sits very much in Support and receives almost $0 in development cost. So everything is…

I can from experience on this: Have a plan! Have a plan when rolling out any SIEM, preferably Solarwinds LEM, in your network environment. When I first purchased it for my company it was strictly for Windows servers. And then I learned how LEM integrates with Sophos anti-virus, firewalls, Windows File & Directory…

Should I do a better job of explaining this idea so perhaps I could garner some more votes? Would that help you guys?

Ahem! It's Lego, not Legos!

Flying tapes for a DR exercise? As a Business Continuity Professional I am scratching my head on that one... That process is wrought with issues.

"Someday, we may look back on IT as a subset of social science as much as a technological discipline. Because it sits at the intersection of business and technology, visibility and information are at a premium within organizations." 50 years from now IT professionals are going to look at the way we do IT the same way we…

Wow! You are fast. I was still in the process of writing my Segment entry. But I get it, it's coming on EOY and trying to wrap it up quickly. ;-) Writing entries this weekend is going to be a real challenge.

"Control the Narrative!" "Have your End In Mind Set!" "Tell Your Story!" These are the compliments to data to deliver an effective and powerful message.

I found the discussion regarding, "...whether you start with a checklist, or you end with a checklist." interesting. My comments in the chat group at the time were on the point that Security & Compliance is a lifecycle, and not a timeline.

Is it wrong of me to get excited at the end of each week hoping that adatole chooses one of my entries to quote? lol Sue me. I'm petty...

jeremyxmentzell wore it better! ;-) Also, I really enjoyed your session on soft skills during TC. As a manager I cannot stress enough the importance of communication and interpersonal skills for IT professionals. Tech skills are great but it is the "people skills" that will really set you apart from others.

I'm a 1st gen American. Growing up my dad worked in the mail room at the British Embassy in DC. They had a policy called Home Leave. Every 4 years the embassy paid for the travel of the employee's family to go back to the employee's home country for 4 weeks. My mom was a secretary at the World Bank. They had a similar…

"I, for one, would like to welcome our ant overlords!" -Kent Brockman That sums up my thoughts on 2016. On one hand we are delivering slurpees by drone, on the other Microsoft is burning $$$ by the piles (Wait! I think that may be the same hand!?!) The Star Trek technology gives me hope of something productive coming out…

I'm with anyone else. Your travel log pic is in desperate need of a refresh. Many fine submissions to choose from. I applaud your decision not to sport the kilt. Growing up with a Scottish father I learned to appreciate Scottish attire and what occasions are appropriate to wear them. ;-)

The primary reason that more companies have BC?DR Plans is because the technology required to have one is much easier to manage and much more affordable than 20-30 years ago. The unfortunate events of 9/11 didn't hurt motivate companies either. After that it all came down to process and business rules. That's where people…

Viva la CMD!!! I was on a site tracking celebrity deaths. While 2016 didn't have the most deaths it did have a high number of influential and relevant deaths. That made 2016 special.

When I take time off from yelling at clouds I like to preach the OSI model when troubleshooting. I still find it to be a reliable approach to troubleshooting. Now, when dealing with a big outage and the source has not been identified that is a different conversation. While trying to maintain order and form an Incident…

Is it me or does this topic come up monthly now? This is IT Darwinism. Those who want to survive will adapt and keep learning. Those who keep their skills stagnant and/or expect the industry to carry them along will find themselves out in the cold. Staying relevant in IT is tough! A 25 year vet needs to approach the job…

We use FC to our high-end SAN's. However, we got bit by the "tiering" feature a few years ago. Some of our mission critical systems got demoted to lower-level disks because they weren't as "busy" as some of the lower priority servers. It took us a while to figure out what was going on. We thought we were having hardware…

I have to say that I have been enjoying the podcasts ever since I discovered them at the begining of the pandemic.

This thread has transformed from a Halloween & Nightmare list to a Group Therapy session. lol

My company looooooves data. They were one of the first 7 SAP customers to implement HANA for analytics. I, on the other hand, had to wait years before I could get any exec's attention long enough to notice what BI I was building in SolarWinds.
