I believe we just need to wait and be patient until the rest of the information is added. The announcement was probably made to get people ready for it. Either that or DanielleH accidentally hit the submit button on a draft

I love xkcd. The one you linked was small and hard to read so here we go. xkcd: Heartbleed Explanation

Yeah, I made a poll about this before actually. I kind wandered into IT and wish I could have had someone to tell me some of the things that I know now so I could have shortcut a lot of the dead end jobs I took before. If I could do it all over again, I think I would have started out by becoming a military chaplin for the…

I'm following you up to the "customize each instance" part.

Ah okay thank you for the clarification on this.

rhart-ka I really want the backpack but the hoodie is tempting too. I might not have enough points for it though

How many posts can Jfrazier bump when Jfrazier gets back to bumping posts?

I've up-voted several suggestions like this, but this one seems to be the best. This would be invaluable for adherence to a change management process. We currently keep track of all of this within share point. I would much rather have all of this in Orion instead.

I disregarded your warning our of curiosity. I didn't see anything bad though. All the results were of food related things. I grew up eating wild game like deer and rabbits though so I guess it could just be normal to me.

Security is unfortunately in the same boat that back ups are in. It's one of those things that is critical but the value is never really seen until its too late. If you don't have a good solution for either of them it you will end up paying for it through the nose and can potentially end a business. The thing that always…

As ideal as having everything managed through one single pane of glass would be it's just not realistic. An example is you have a carpenters hammer and you have a ball peen hammer. They are both hammers yes and will both hammer a nail into wood but the ball peen hammer is designed to do metal working rather than wood…

We have the unfortunate burden with our group that if it stops working, no matter the situation, it's still out fault so we have to get it fixed. .::Example::. Boss: "I understand our remote site has a T1 down, why haven't you fixed it yet?" Me: "But... but... there's a fiber cut I can't do anything about that..AT&T has to…

Aww yeah finally got a week straight correct!
-
O_o umm... what?

We typically don't have a formal meeting about stuff like this but there is always research done in to trying to find out what caused it. There is an incident manager that rotates every week that is in charge of driving the issue to completion as well as writing up a report on what happened and what was done to correct it…

Very good info. Thank you so much for sharing this.

Hey thanks for the feedback Leon, I went to the Advanced Alert Manager and clicked on Configure Alerts but I didn't see that anywhere in the list. I'm also not sure that this would work though because as I understand it anything that's setup in the Alert manager is still going to be using the Alerting Engine which is the…

Nice question, that's what I was wondering also. Great avatar too.

Got questions 2 and 3 wrong -_-' Guess I have to go back to actually reading them again.
-
Perhaps it's intended so that we as a group get to decide on the mission by posting things we'd like to do and then it's decided by which ever is voted highest?
-
It was about the comment garetht made.

I wasn't even aware of the storage manager product, really good to know so thanks for mentioning it. I'll have to check it out.

Wait... PokeGo is still a thing lol? Thanks for the link to the testing tools, those will be helpful.

White boards seem to the best method for us right now. Our environment keeps changing so rapidly its hard to keep up. In the past 6 months we migrated our primary data center to an off site location being hosted by a 3rd party instead of in house. We're in the process of planning to do the same thing with our disaster…

Mmmm bacon. Sorry it's lunch time and that's all I can think about right now.

Nope, no points for us ahrg! I'm so close to level 7.

I disagree, there is such a thing as absolute security. Its directly opposite the spectrum from where convenience is. That's the problem.

"Allows your application owners to determine which software “services” they will want monitored " I think this is the best possible advice. This is the difference between feeling the monitoring solution is adding value and feeling like it is just something to be tuned out.
