Glad you've put this up as a feature request. I posted about this back in 2012 but no one responded Network discovery feature request

I'm not sure if this is worth it. If the person who is making the changes doesn't write off the config, they will be out of sync anyways. Once a week, I get a report that compares the running to the startup config and any that don't match, get listed in the report. Basically means that those configs weren't written off.

I totally agree but unfortunately I (like others I assume judging by the lack of) totally hate doing documentation. Luckily we have architects that do a lot of documentation but I really should be doing some as well. It should be my new year's resolution.....

Yeah training is harder to get these days. Times are getting tougher. I've seen loads of staff made redundant. Sign of times unfortunately.

I agree. We've gone with Palo Alto's for the reasons you've described.

Great article. The biggest problem with backups is that most don't test them. So when they really need them, they don't work.

Thanks for sharing. Great post.

Congrats to the winners. I don't know any of you but you all sound awesome. It's always nice to be recognised by someone else

Simple and accurate describes Solarwinds to a T!

That California Raisins ad was cool! But I've always loved The Muppets so this round goes to Dr Teeth.

Does anyone know if this still occurs in 11.5? It does still occur in 11.0

Not sure, I haven't owned the toolset for about 4 years now.

I'd never heard the envelope story, I like it! But none of it has applied to me. I was in my first job for about 6 years and I'm about to notch up 22 years in my current job. So I've not ever opened up any envelopes. I left my first job to go to my current one for increased wages. I've been blamed for things over the years…

Great series. Good outcome for the customer

Luckily I don't deal with users very often, we have a service desk for that! But I have been in that role in the past. Guess it's always better safe than sorry. My dad rings me quite often with all of his computer related questions. Luckily no other family member does this (other than wife and kids).

Me too.

Love your work!

As of today, we've been told to work from home until they tell us to come back. We can still go into the office if we need to though. But they prefer everyone to stay away to slowdown the spread of the virus. I can do my role from home but I miss my office view and dual monitors I've worked from home in the past but it's…

You're right, the network always gets blamed first. It's then up to us to prove the network is fine and it's the application. My favourite response always was "can you ping it?". Yes, then in that case the network is fine But that doesn't really work at well as it once did.

Yes there's plenty out there. I love the ones that ring up and you say "have you rebooted it?" And they say "I knew you were going to ask that!" And you say "well have you?" And they say "no...... I'll ring you back if there's still an issue".

Fantastic!! We need another episode of the Hangover. Now I just have to work out what time it will happen in my timezone My favourite Thwack moment was when I was asked to be a MVP. That was a sweeet day.

rschroeder wrote: We may not always learn from our past mistakes, and when we don't, Murphy is always ready and willing to re-educate us. So true! You can warn management of issues but sometimes until it fails, they won't act upon it.

Clean slate for the whole month for once!

Check out the mission rules listed in the original post. Point 7a states " * Points/badges will be added to profiles once the mission has closed. "

Cool! I was the third person to vote

Unfortunately I can't sit down with the security team as they are in another state but previously they had always been difficult to work with. It was like they were better than us. A few years back, I needed to get stuff done on the firewall to which they were reluctant to do. So I happen to be in their state so I marched…
