A possible use case for the ELK stack in Orion? (Not sure about functional overlap or licensing limitations.)

Yay, one less secret decoder ring to have to keep around! Will miss all of the Ovaltine, though.

Completed?

DanielleH, it would be fun to see some stats about the current platform. (Maybe you've already planned these for the eulogy post?) Would love to see # of users, # of discussions, # of ideas, # of average daily visits, etc.

OK, I see what you mean. Now if you want (e.g.) a "BigBoard" account to automatically log in with passthru Windows credentials, you would need a NOC system to be logged into a Windows domain with a "BigBoard" user account. It would be REALLY slick if we had the option to share specific NOC views via a URL that had an…

It sounds like you want different metrics to be alerted on for different groups of people. I think the way to do that would probably be to assign different application templates to (for example) your SQL Server, and use custom properties on those applications to specify which group the alerts get sent to. The downsides to…

Gonna be great. Aside from always learning something, my favorite part has been getting to see the personality and insights of the presenters that we interact with through various channels here on Thwack and elsewhere!

What do, you mean? ;)

Oh, I'll just add that I am desperate for decent IT podcasts that AREN'T an hour long. Twenty to thirty minute gems would be perfect for a break, a short drive, etc. For me, finding an hour to get through a podcast in one day is a real challenge!

Ha! Love the "ON AIR" sign idea.

Holy shnikies. You guys are brave. I can't even imagine what this undertaken must have felt like, and will say for everyone, "thank you!" Mobile was painful to the point of barely being usable, and none of us want to be investing our time and energy in an EOL platform. Change is tough, but I'm looking forward to seeing the…

Of course! Thank you! This creates some exciting possibilities.

+1 for scheduling Groups (of nodes, VMs, etc) to be managed/unmanaged. ++1 for recurring schedules.

Yeah, there have been a few comments about the increased amount of whitespace... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯¯ :smileyhappy:

Orion has support for SAML SSO and Windows authentication through MSAPI or LDAP. I'm curious if you can be more specific about what you'd like to see. I'm not familiar with MSAPI and am curious if it handles Negotiate, Kerberos, and/or CBA.

Actually--I read this post from the perspective of an engineer wanting to mitigate the surge of outbound traffic during those days...then realized there may be a bigger application for people whose site receive shopping traffic. Would be curious about the direction that responses to this question come from.

@"undesired_result" I had not seen that. Love the idea, but not enough of a fan of the design to shell out $45 for it.

Dream Team. That brings back some great memories from childhood. I collected the white Upper Deck (?) set of them all, along with the split panorama of the team. Does my "best team ever" memory stem largely from following each of those so closely as a kid, or has there truly been no team quite like that one?

I'm very curious about anyone's experience with using this tool to monitor application traffic through Netscalers!

TFA/MFA is always good. Couldn't we take advantage of SAML configuration to enable this, or (in your case, sandipc) does RSA not have the ability to drop in via a SAML provider?

This is the right plan. Thanks for sharing the focus and the roadmap! This text is an exact copy are there any plans for hardening VMAN specifically with regard to code from VMware and Nutanix?
-
Just curious, what is the use case for making such a sensitive system accessible publicly on the internet? If you do, a CAPTCHA won't do very much to protect you from malicious actors who want to break in. I would highly suggest using a web application firewall and a reverse proxy to protect access to Orion. In your…

Tricky question for a Monday morning! No worries, @DanielleH. Some things are more important than posting questions on a weekend!

Cross posting a comment: Just to bump this, I would also like to be able to ignore (specific components on specific nodes) during discovery, such as a particular volume that you do not want managed. That might be a separate feature request, but it's the natural follow-up to this one.

Thanks for the new mission! I'm not familiar with Cowin, but these headphones look nice. One question: what are "protein earpads" anyway?! Can I eat them when I get hangry?
-
It might be helpful to specify this as "within cloud-based IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) environments." There probably aren't many cases (if any) where a SaaS or PaaS customer would have network elements to monitor, other than the connection to the service itself.

It has been noted in feedback sessions and also in this feature request that you can vote on: SRM Support for Dell EMC PowerStore - Feature Requests - Storage Resource Monitor (SRM) - THWACK (solarwinds.com)

This could also be an SCM monitor (I actually don't have SCM) or a PowerShell monitor in SAM, but to your point, it wouldn't make a lot of sense to continually poll a setting that should never change until support for newer versions of SSL/TLS is added.
