What I was afraid of I had a newbie error... Didn't apply all needed pollers for it. I just had the math part and not the actual poller for the temp.

I ran the mib walk and found numbers close to it. Mine have another 1 at the end 1.3.6.1.2.10.39.2.1.1.1.1.2 sonetpathcurrentwidth 2 value 5 1.3.6.1.2.1.10.39.2.1.1.1.2.2 sonetpathcurrentstatus.2 value 1 1.3.6.1.2.1.10.39.2.1.1.1.2.3 sonetpathcurrentstatus.3 value 1 I work for the City of Austin and we are evaluating the…

That's cool thanks. He just emailed me a few minutes ago and I gave him a link to this thread to point it out. He just had given me the tutorial for the poller, but I don't think I need it I mean it tests fine.... It's either a glitch or since i'm new I am perhaps missing a step.
-
Well that's good to hear.
-
Judging from the demo posted above. It seems already pretty integrated into NPM... So I am not sure what you are really looking for.... What do you mean it's using the same ports??? You don't want two people making changes to a router at teh same time anyways.... SO you should explain what you are trying to do in a little…

I ended up with 51374 entries running your mib walk.

How would you go about doing just those services? That's pretty interesting since I just downloaded it literally yesterday and out of the box it was like this. I did upgrade to SP3 this morning and install APM. Of course nothing got fixed from installing SP3. I am suppose to get a call from technical support at some point…

I do not see that specific OID or anything really close to that. I see a crap load of sonet stuff and the actual interfaces if-mib 1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.2.2 ifdescr.2 rpr-IEEE1/1-West Span-SONET-SDH medium/section/line if-mib 1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.2.3 rpr-IEEE1/1-East Span-SONET-SDH medium/section/line

Whenever I make those kinds of changes I do them on all boxes at pretty close the same time, so instead of having one down at a time, they all are coming up at pretty much the same time. THe install process after all doesn't take long at all if you have the files already loaded on th server.
-
Yeah I have already done that. Unfortunately came up with an error during install of polling engine configuration wizard and I came up with error services configuration failed: Can’t change dependencies of “swjobschedulersvc’Error starting service swjobschedulersvc service swjobschedulervc. Was not found on computer.

I'm running the new 9.5.1
-
I believe it is SP3 9.5 It is whatever you download right now from the portal. I just downloaded and installed it last night/this morning. So it's a very fresh install. Everything tests good like I said on the poller but once moved to the website. It doesn't work!
-
But wouldn't sql be idle if you have all your services stopped?
-
I'm going to assume since you never replied again. that would be a no... So can I just go uninstall in add/remove programs?? Will that take care of removing the integration from NPM?
-
We are getting NPM slx NEtflow slx APM al100 orion dl1000 engineers tolset lansurveyor NPM slx polling engine 3

Resilient Packet Ring (RPR), also known as IEEE 802.17, is a standard designed for the optimized transport of data traffic over optical fiber ring networks. Its design is to provide the resilience found in SONET/SDHnetworks (50ms protection) but instead of setting up circuit oriented connections, providing a packet based…

I agree. Personally i think if you have SLX you should have access to having a "test" system.

We don't run MPLS and we don't have 12000 routers. We just have 10720's and then our cisco cores. 4507,6500's,6009's

I have pretty much the same problem and I am trying to find a solution for this. We have only a couple addresses in access-lists that allow telnet access..... How can that telnet button come from the orion server and not each users desktop????
-
I am currently going to 10.0 now.. I got all the old software links but I can't seem to find a version 10.0 of the additional web server. I can't imagine it will allow me to jump from 9.5.1 to 10.1.2 I am getting all engines and main box to 10.0 then 10.1.2

I'm having a problem that I only have about 5k elements on a polling engine, but it can't keep up consistently. IT's set at the max of 300 polls p and I had to turn Status polling to max and I am still dropping
-
Thank. I am probably too aware on this procedure.... I have never had to "repair" a program and do all sorts of crap with any other management program in my life.
-
We are just getting 3 polling engines. NPM slx, APM, netflow and all that..... With majority of stuff I am at 18k I still have to add 350 or so ups's and stuff but that's minor compared to what has already been added. I ran them on 2 polling engines but that was with a lot of issues because of the amount of stuff…

I was definitely planning on raid 10... So I would only need raid 10 though on the DB computer? The other one's just need to be loaded with speed and memory?? I do plan on building a lot of maps and nesting them together.
-
So, hit print screen a bunch of times and saves the pictures in paint and go from there.
-
Well since it's a 32 bit OS you are maxing out your memory. IF you have 1.7 usage on just the DB that leaves it maxed out to run the rest of the OS processes.
-
Yeah I'll open a ticket and see, I figured other people have run into this problem. I mean I am not even at 5k elements. I have another polling engine with the same problem running about the same number of elements.

What are you trying to add? some will need you to put the SNMP destination of your Solarwinds boxes into the config. But like I said it depends on the type of device you are trying to add. can you even add them into NPM or is it failing?
-
Maybe I asked my question poorly. I need to know how to write advanced alert for the runtime less than whatever minutes. Having trouble with the context. I am alreaday using transform feature successfully and that info posts for top 10 page. Also Id like it to include any of the APC ac ups's that start with ac. That way it…

What do you mean by SAN solution?? I am not a DB person and my boss wants me to figure out server purchase stuff for NPM and al lthe stuff with it.... Would you still buy the server to run the DB but then just use the NAS to backup that DB or how would you do it.... Our Db guy still hasn't responded to me but my boss needs…
