I work for the government and we have over 1000 devices. I don't accept that as an acceptable answer. We have too many people that need to access these devices. Solarwinds isn't a network management tool if there is no work around for this. Nice for analyzing, but access is required.

Looking through the report UDT unused reports and sorting by device name, I find ports thate for say they haven't been used in 5 to whatever amount of days. But if you go to that device in NPM that particular port you think is unused is actually showing up and up and being used with traffic.

One of our vlan's consistently keeps getting knocked out for just a couple seconds. It is happening when polls every 30 minutes happens coincidently. I haven't tried EVERYTHING with it, but I have been using chrome with XP for some things when manipulating views and permissions. I have been able to see everything from my experience.

MRTG graphs just use snmp to fill in the information. Just model them into NPM and you will get the same results. You can look in the cacti graphs and find out what the mib numbers are. It depends on what all you are looking for. NPM can get a bunch of basic stuff without having to customize.
