Polling Engine help! It can't keep up

Question

I tried messing with the polls per second several times, but I can never get the thing to be able to always be caught up. I am short of 5k elements but statistic and status polls always fall behind. Is there a way to stagger the times of the devices so this lessens or is there something I can do????

yea, if its the same issue I had (my pollers would just quit talking to the DB every night between 10p and midnight), dev gave me a dll to replace...fixed the pollers dying and completion % issues.

Yeah I'll open a ticket and see, I figured other people have run into this problem. I mean I am not even at 5k elements. I have another polling engine with the same problem running about the same number of elements.

your SNMP outstanding is 900.  That is the max and generally if it stays there for too long, the system pukes b/c it can't recover from that.

one thing to try is tweaking your SNMP timeouts to maybe 2 seconds and you might have this one system taxed too heavily.  8000 pollers is the max recommended by SW, it looks like you have too many pollers on this one system.  Definitely open a case to verify though.
