Looking forward to it!

The points will be added by Danielle after the competition is over.

The same thing happens when you have VMAN installed. You can limit the view to a node (or other limitation) and if you are displaying an Alert widget then you will see all of the VMAN alerts. I think it is due to the way the filtering works - if you are filtering off a node, the VMAN objects don't have Node IDs and rather…

Great example! I'll bookmark this for reference so I can show others when trying to explain how PerfStack can be used.

Congrats to mimcginnis and esecola !

It's a nice prize so I'm jealous of you all. At least I can still get the points.

Using NCM to compare configurations has come in handy a lot of times. Similar to squinsey above, when an engineer comes up with a request for config changes that have been made in the last day/week/month and you can provide that information readily? Makes life a lot easier. And the times when I get an email about a change…

Uhhh... not entirely sure this has activated properly. I've tried the link in a few browsers and the same thing. Although I am curious about what would happen if I submitted with just my thwack name... On a side note, I receive the thwack weekly update email at 9am local time (AEST +10). The update this morning mentioned…

It's not pretty but check out the OrionServers table in the database (not sure what version this was added but it's definitely in Orion 2017.1.3). There is a Details column that will list the modules installed for each engine. To view this information on the web console, add a Custom Query resource and use the following…

jvb does this mean the feature will be available in the next release of NPM (12.5)?

Mostly it's the engineers here who get newer laptops because we tend to run software and tools requiring more resources. Our admin staff using office-related apps don't require newer and faster grunt so they have a longer lifecycle on their gear.

Thank you! Looking forward to another year and congrats to the other MVPs.

I'm not sure that is possible - if the trigger conditions are satisfied, the alert would be triggered?
-
Fairly busy so I missed all of last week but am now caught up.

This would be really useful when helping clients set up new systems. Similar to the above, I'm given a spreadsheet of IP addresses and if some are missing then it's a case of trying to figure out devices didn't respond.

I use this often in client deployments. Now we just need all the resources to have a filter option. Alerts, Hardware Health, Application Health, some of the top/Last XX resources, etc. A way around it is to use View Limitations based on the custom property but that means it then applies to every resource and sub-view.

When client interaction is not required we typically use VPN and RDP sessions. If client interaction is required, we have Cisco Webex available for meetings but it also allows us to perform remote troubleshooting (take control).

Welcome gminks! SAM is a great product and looking forward to your take on it.

My fear is another large customer fooling around with IPAM and removing all of their DHCP scopes from the DHCP server. That little misclick required a server restore.

I echo the "awww shucks" sentiment... I just try to contribute when I can.

This month I've learnt that a lot of thwack members need to watch Doctor Who!

Does the wording in Q15 (Jan 28th) have two answers depending on how you read the question? I'm assuming the first "plan to" isn't meant to be there?

The Wireless Heat Maps threw me the first time I loaded one. On those it goes the other way - red is good!

Congrats paulrobbins

One of the common things I see is so many new devices being plugged into home networks and left with default settings (i.e. passwords).

This is tied to the method used to check polling status. If you List Resources for those nodes, you can see the system is using the Agent to determine status and response time of the node. It defaults to 'Status & Response Time Agent' for agent nodes. You can change it here to use ICMP/ping if you don't want to use the…

I've come across this exact same problem with "hardened" systems. One company brought in some people to harden their servers (including SolarWinds) following an install and shortly after I get a call "SolarWinds isn't working". The software had stopped any of the "non-approved" executables from running, e.g. Universal…

Similar situation here. I think I've only ever seen it installed at a customer once and haven't had any requests for installation. Most of the feedback was "why do I have to install separate software for my NPM/SAM alerts?"

Looking forward to it!
