Looks like you all had a fantastic time, attendees and SolarWinds crew alike!
-
Same, but I didn't want to be the first to question it!

Interesting set of questions this month. Good to see some on the new SCM product. Also, the survey was asking if I wanted information on last months topics?

I have the VMAN appliance upgraded but holding off on the Orion integration for now - the VIM installer still wants 20 GB of free space even for minimal installations. I'll hang out for an updated NPM/SAM/etc update and see if they come with the IVIM or if future Orion updates require that much space.

Good news regarding the databases!
-
I got into a disagreement with support when they suggested NPM used ICMP to determine interface status...

Congrats all!

Thanks adatole!

As far as I know, yes? But I'll sign up again just in case.

Australia (the States and Territories that observe DST anyway) reverts first Sunday of April (On April 6th we set clocks back one hour). Would installations in the related timezones be at risk as well or not until we have to move clocks forward for DST in October?

*cough* Re: Juniper RPM probe monitoring I'm sure you can add to it though.

Congratulations graham@childe.org.uk !

Cheers HerrDoktor. I've used a similar script to fix this issue. This FR is mainly for those users unfamiliar with the SDK so your script helps provide a good workaround in the meantime.

Not a definitive list of model numbers but the ISR G2 and ASR1K platforms. NBAR2 (Next Generation NBAR) Protocol Pack FAQ - Cisco NBAR2 or Next Generation NBAR - Cisco Q. Which platforms support NBAR2? A. NBAR2 is supported on Cisco Network devices such as ISR-G2, ASR1K , ASA-CX and Wireless LAN Controller. I also found a…

Interesting round. I think the Dragon will take it all the way.

A couple of all-nighters... I'll see if I can put this down as "training".

I was chatting with SolarWinds at their booth at Cisco Live Melbourne a couple of weeks ago and someone walks over and goes "I heard I could get a t-shirt here". Luckily that seemed to be the exception while I was there and everyone else seemed genuinely interested in the demos. Hopefully it wasn't a common occurrence.

Seeing a lot more large deployments now with HP 3810M and 2930 switches. As mentioned, the data is in the MIBs but it's complicated to put together on the dashboard and messy with alerting. As above, I'd like to see the switch stack support similar to the Cisco switch stack monitoring. NPM allows you to select Hardware…

Nice gesture ashley.heilbronn@lr.org!

I wouldn't say nothing... Points - which granted you can't spend (yet!) Learning - lots of information regarding the new NPM features

This was my line of thinking as well until some scenes in the later episodes. Show has also had a few scenes where I've just gone: *sadface*

Our core message is, “Monitoring and automation are awesome, and companies can derive a huge benefit both financially and operationally from having effective tools in place. I’d love to tell you more about it. Oh, and by-the-way, the company where I work happens to make some cool stuff to help you get that done.” Education…

For SolarWinds maps, it can vary depending on the customer but either a topological diagram of the core and any networks/sites hanging off it or a geographical map. You can click on a site and drill down to a local topology diagram. Depending on the core diagram, you can either drill down to another map or groups but the…

Reviving an old post but are you able to provide an update on these requests? In a lot of other thwack threads I've seen your suggestion to create different views but this doesn't really work for NOC dashboards. Similarly, it would be nice to be able to assign view limitations per sub-view as we could get around it that…

Interesting question that I haven't thought much about as it is very rare that I use the same action across multiple alerts. Usually the alerts have their own unique actions. A quick test shows that if you currently disable an action it is disabled in every alert it is used. I don't see an issue with that as long as it is…

Congrats phoneman7!

There is also a hidden global settings page that contains these settings. I believe this appears in 12.0+ and links back to the json files. http://YOURSERVER/Orion/Admin/AdvancedConfiguration/Global.aspx Edit: Standard disclaimer about being careful to edit these settings.

You guys seem to be always on the ball as I've rarely seen the spam - only the aftermath!

* Go to the SolarWinds Customer Portal - Customer Portal Login | SolarWinds. * Log in with your account (or create an account and link it to your SW#). * License Management -> My Downloads * You should be able to download the latest version from there. Depending on how old your NCM version is, you may need to do…
