Had a few clients recently with some wonky DNS - caused a few issues with SolarWinds. They're now going through and fixing things up.

To make it even more confusing, I get a different value looking at the demo later in the week. Is it 24 hours over Dec 19th? Or the last 24 hours from when you browse the online demo? There is another answer again depending on if you go Max network utilisation, or max of the average utilisation. I have an idea of the…

Re 1) My MIB DB is significantly larger than 512 MB. On my prod server (NPM, NTA, VNQM, IPAM) the MIB database is 1.03 GB (last modified 29/04/2013). I installed the NPM 10.5 eval on a lab server and it is 589 MB (last modified 27/09/2012).

Exactly, hopefully my comments haven't come across as griping. It's all in jest! Mock outrage!

Congrats to the winners!

I'm not a morning person so I'd be much happier working 10-6 rather than 9-5.

Woke up at 2:55am and promptly went back to sleep again so I missed it. Is there a link to the announcement video? I assume that because of these terms and conditions, members outside of US, Canada, UK, & Germany are not eligible? Bugger if so but congrats to the lucky 3 otherwise! Are there more sessions planned for EMEA…

If you're using a physical SPAN port on a switch then you'll need a spare physical interface on the host and link it to a new interface on the VM. The following is a straightforward guide for a basic configuration with a VMware ESXi server and a Cisco SPAN port. How to SPAN a physical port to a Virtual Machine |…

Congrats to all of the winners!

Are these going to be recorded like other webinars? While I would like to attend, these are 2AM-3AM local time (Australia).

I've implemented a few audit rules but am by no means an expert. Examples include a policy that checks if a particular fall-back local user account exists on the device (for if TACACS/RADIUS is down), and another policy that checks if any other non-compliant user accounts have been configured.

Thanks for all the great work Lindsey and good luck for the future!

Isn't this the "Active Alerts on This Node" resource under Node Details pages? Or am I misreading the request?
-
I started typing the same response and then wasn't sure if I was allowed to mention it. I didn't want to go looking for the beta agreement to find out...

Great work from all! The thwack community is fantastic!

@"stuartd" You can follow the steps below. You can also use variables like in the screenshot in the original post to show the actual values. https://documentation.solarwinds.com/en/Success_Center/NPM/Content/Core-Mapping-Universal-Device-Pollers-with-Network-Atlas-sw539.htm
-
A few environments I've worked on have created different Node Down alerts. A custom property for priority value (P1, P2, P3, ..., PX), and then a node down alert for each priority. The Node Down (P1) alert can trigger instantly and send repeat notifications until acknowledged (i.e. core network devices), whereas a PX alert…

Good to see features being implemented based on feedback. I know some customers who will be very happy to see some of these changes.
-
@"jblankjblank" Both preferably. I have clients using Network Atlas to provide effectively a "UnDP" dashboard across particular devices. So the "traffic light" status of the custom poller is important to see there is a problem, and then they can also see the actual custom poller value next to or on it. The node status…

Blocked out the calendar!

Congratulations shale2001 !

Agreed. Pre-Prod/QA is useful to verify polling and alerting is still functional. This was especially useful going from NPM 11 to 11.5.x+ as certain alert variables functioned the same and you needed to use SWIS variables.

Congrats to the winners! Looks like a lot of fun

That's how I met my girlfriend! (The not accepting status quo, curious about her part - NOT the hacking part!) On a serious note, I have to agree. it's curiosity into how/why a system does what it is doing that leads to investigations of how it could be done better.
-
Ah, my mistake. Thanks for the clarification Jiri.

We recently had a help desk request come in: "I can't log in to Fred's computer". Umm, ok?
-
Congratulations am3!

I really like the new system compatibility check during the installation process. This will definitely be helpful on some of the systems I've come across! The installation process seemed to go a bit faster but I have a pretty small local install so cannot compare against the larger installs.

adatole I think something is going on with the auto-posting. If they're meant to go up at roughly 12am, that's 5pm my local time which gives me time to post that "day" during my evening. Day 4 wasn't up until at least 7 hours before I headed to bed (midnight local) so by the time I get home from work, I miss that "day" if…

Congrats neoceasar (and nluchetta for last week)!
