This was a challenge for the previous Solarwinds Storage Manager product in that it treated the Volume and it's Snapshot capacity essentially like separate containers. When (not if) Snapshot information is added to SRM, it needs to be treated as a separate capacity measurement in the Volume. Each Volume on a NetApp should…

I mentioned this many many months ago and I enthusiastically second, third, forth and fifth that notion. With the old Storage Manager (STM) I'm able to see KPIs at the node level of an SVC including both front-end (hosts) and back-end (virtualized storage controllers) IO, Throughput and Latency. Being able to monitor…

Would you allow adding these devices without debiting spindle count from the license since all we will get is historical capacity information. I think having these devices in STM to provide a holistic view would be useful, but I don’t want to “pay full price” where I’m getting limited functionality. That said, I really…

Can you define "long term"? I'm not looking for complete feature parity next week, but the product needs some of the functionality I mentioned above very soon.

We use another tool for our 24x7 NOC to raise alerts to "board" the operators monitor. I need to be able to forward alerts from devices or other monitoring tools to this NOC tool. When I saw that I could forward an Alert in SRM as an SNMP trap I figured this was how I was going to accommodate that requirement. It seems…

I’ve made changes to the Java memory size in the config file, but can you give details so we can all be on the same page? Thanks Bob Updegraff

Been there, done that. SRM is nowhere near release. I only just got my C-Mode system to even show up after working with the developers. I really need C-Mode in Storage Manager months ago. Bob Updegraff

I was the guy that asked for a new "What we are working on" post a while back, so yes I'm always going to be asking. I manage so many different array vendors and models (and multiple OS/Firmware versions of each) that I'm always interested in updates across the field of supported devices. Ill be patient... For now.

That is the correct ticket number for me. Thanks for your help

Any thoughts on this yet?

What screenshot are you looking for? Here is the main page in Storage Manager of the nSeries. I don’t see a statistic such as the “Array Status: OK” like I see for an SVC, IBM DS, etc. See smaller screenshot below. Bob Updegraff

The responses below have helped a lot and in fact allowed me to add the additional detail to the Alert messages. I also used some of my newfound knowledge in the criteria for alerts and a report. I am still curious about the "N=", "M=" and "F=" that are necessary in the syntax. I assume they are not just arbitrary letters…

Ok, forgive me, issues grasping the syntax as well as specifying that I'm using true SQL or SWQL is my problem. The options you gave me above may be correct, but I'm not sure what to include and what not. * I've tried using exactly what you provided from the $ to the last } but it doesn't work * I also tried using either…

When a Volume is created on a NetApp, there is a max number of inodes available based initially on the size of the Volume. In the case of NAS, when you start pouring hundreds of thousands or millions of files in the Volume you could run out. The value can be increased by either growing the Volume or just increasing the…

I would use this report as you have provided, but I need to take it further. I also need to be able to generate the top n report on each Pool for a specific Storage Array. I also need the ability to graph the results rather than just presenting a summarized (peak/average) IOP or Latency number for the period of time in the…

I would like to create additional reports that will allow me report on the LUNs for a given Storage Array. Unfortunately there is a current feature request open to allow this type of link in the simple Report query tool, but it's still not fixed. Is there documentation or another non-Orion integrated tool to aid in…

I'm seeing a lot of IBM Flash System v8x0/v9x0 as well as some v9000. I really need to be able to monitor these as soon as humanly possible. Any thoughts on when we will see these?

I didn’t see NetApp C-Mode specifically mentioned. When can I beta test that additional feature? Bob Updegraff

I had the same issue and opened a case with support. The answer was that SRM does not support OneFS 8.x yet. I was told to expect it in the next update to the product. Actually it seems that many other products also don't yet support v8.x because we have been looking for other options. Jiri Cvachovec, can you confirm or…

I'm a new user of STM and am VERY interested in the NetAPP ONTAP 8.x C-Mode support. I have a C-Mode system in-house and have a customer coming online with 2 new clusters. The sooner the better! I would be happy to try out any pre-release versions you have to help you get this to market sooner.

I would be interested in going over how I use SRM today, but I would hope the call could be a 2-way street. I'll show you how I'm using it, but will there be people on the call that could show me a better way or something I'm unaware of? I also have some enhancements I would like to see for different device types. I put…

I wish I had an answer for you, but unfortunately I'm in the same boat. It's almost refreshing to see that I'm not the only one. I've been trying to get STM to collect from 2 NSeries (NetApp), 1 DS5020, 1 DS8000 and 1 SVC from an agent with 2 CPUs and 8 GB of RAM. The other agent has the same specs and only collects from…

I added a Resource to the dashboard you see when you are looking at a specific NAS Volume. I plot the "NAS Volume Capacity Statistics" values for the last 30 days. Our Helpdesk uses the view when an alert comes in to see if the issue is a gradual increase or a rapid jump. I've added a screenshot below.
